You are now in your second month of pregnancy and your developing baby is 3 weeks! You might just be finding out that you are pregnant and may have many concerns and questions. Some women still do not realize that they are pregnant yet. You might have already had a positive pregnancy test. Many tests can show a positive test result 10 days after conception, but it is recommended that you wait until you have actually missed your period. The baby has not grown very much from last week and is now approximately 1.25 mm long. You will not `show` yet for some time.
At this point in your pregnancy, you may begin to experience some symptoms. One early symptom of pregnancy is nausea. Some women will actually vomit and others will not. The nausea and/or vomiting that occur during pregnancy are called morning sickness. Most of the time morning sickness is worse in the morning, but not always. Morning sickness does usually improve or disappear by the end of the first trimester. Another early sign of pregnancy is the increased need to urinate. Frequent urination can continue throughout the remainder of the pregnancy because of the growing uterus and increased amount of fluids you are drinking. Many women also notice breast changes early in pregnancy. It is common to feel a tingling or sore sensation in the breasts or nipples. You might notice that the area around the nipple, the areola, becomes darker during pregnancy. It is also not uncommon to feel tired or fatigued at this point. You might feel like you need to nap at lunchtime and you may need to go to bed earlier to accommodate your body's needs.
As early as this week, the plate that will become the heart has developed. Your baby's brain, spinal cord, muscles, and bone formation are also beginning to form. The baby's skeleton is forming at this time as well. The embryo has a distinct organization that has a top, bottom, left, right, front and back. It is important that you continue or begin to take your prenatal vitamins to prevent birth defects.
On your initial doctors visit you may be checked on Hematocrit, hemoglobin, white blood cell count, blood group type, Rh factor, antibodies to blood group antigens, VDRL, rubella anti-Body titer, hepatitis B, toxoplasmosis, urine culture, and HIV.
Sometimes as early as the second month of pregnancy, the insides of your hands and the bottoms of your feet may itch and take on a reddish hue. This annoying condition is called palmar erythema. The increased color is nothing more than a curiosity of pregnancy.

Rach, they told me last time its not as much about how high the numbers are but whether they are doubling every two days or so. Last time mine were doubling at first then slowed down. This time my numbers would be low if they go off my last period. There really isn't any way to know until they do an ultrasound. Good luck I know it is a horrible time waiting.

So I'm 5.1 weeks...I had my first hcg ran at 42.2 on Thursday. And just got my results back from yesterday (4 days later) at 142.1....Seems so low compared to everyone else. I'm hoping by monday they have doubled every couple days and get up to where I'll feel more comfortable. 12 weeks can't come soon enough!

Brooke- I agree & think that in the early weeks every woman is scared & nervous. I myself know that after months of trying a wave of panic hit me too. Maybe- please don't do something you might regret in order to pacify him, but only you know what's right for you. Good luck hunny.

Maybe- aren't got pregnant already? You can't just turn around now! The pregnancy will grow on him and you have months before the baby will be here. Plus he won't be the one missing school for the baby..

So I am starting to get excited now, I was fearful because of my MC a few months ago but I just got my 4th HCG back and it went from 1700 last friday to 9200 today so it looks great so far. I have an ultrasound thursday. Fingers Crossed :)

Maybe- I'm a little nervous you might be rushing a bit. I thought you guys were trying...

Doesn't look like I'll be getting as far as morning sickness. My partner doesn't think it's the right time for a baby, not until he's finished his degree. I can't go through with a pregnancy when we're not both in it together :[ Good luck with your pregnancy ladies, enjoy the ride - nothing more amazing than the prize you get at the end..

Week 5 already! Feels like it was only a week ago I was starting the TWW - how time flies! I think the more kids you have, the faster subsequent pregnancies go... Especially when you know you won't be going to term and will be given a definite date the baby will be born on... it makes the impending date arrive a lot quicker - especially when it's via a delivery method that fills you with dread (this will be my second elective c-section for strictly medical reasons - and definitely 100% required).. Still symptomless - aside from missing AF, but HPTs are getting darker by the day (using up the last of my ICs)... Nausea will kick in next week or the week after.. dreading it. Mornings are already hectic trying to get my 3 kids up, fed and dressed for school/nursery run - without having to deal with nausea/vomiting/wretching/peeing my pants from the forceful wretching.. Oh the joys!

Hey ladies, I created a January 2014 IAP Facebook group - it doesn't mention babies or anything in the title and its closed so only members can see posts (and not friends/relatives if you're keeping it a secret for the mo). If you'd like to join, send a request and message your IAP username (for verification) and ill add you :) there's no admin and ANYTHING goes - though I'm sure we'll all play nice, right? :) Search 'IAP - January 2014'

Well I've been to my first party during this pregnancy which meant I was driving rather than drinking and I've been rumbled already! I was being questioned about driving and not getting on the bouncy castle with the rest of them (yes the grown ups took over the bouncy castle!) and I caved! Well it's a relief to be able to talk about it to be honest as I felt like a bore sat in the corner with my lemonade! Another party to go before we can announce properly - I may claim to be on antibiotics this time haha!

Hi ladies. I am in my 5th week. This is my 3rd pregnancy. This one already seems different then my other 2 (both girls). Does anyone else have leg/feet pain? My legs and feet have been achy and tingly for a week. They don't seem swollen, just annoying.

I caved today on my second day at my new job... the manager was going on and on about all the plans he had for me and I told him I'm pregnant so will only be there until December-ish IF they keep me that long. It made things awkward but I don't feel like I'm hiding this big secret anymore. I just want to be able to be excited. I'll be a lot more happy once I see the heartbeat at my ultrasound May 24th.

Hi everyone! I hv known I am pregnant for a week. Our 1st boy is 28 mths so this is my 2nd pregnancy. And I know it sounds crazy but K am already showing big time!! I am not overweight nor hv put on weight the last 6 weeks so it has to be pregnancy related! Anyone else experiencing this? Will it go away? I just find it will be extremely hard to keep this a secret at work for the next 7-8 weeks.. It is so obvious!! :o Apart from that same nausea & constant headaches I had with my 1st.. Im not a big fan of the 1st trimester! Wishing everyone luck in this joint journey! :)

Hey Guys, I found out yesterday I am pregnant. I am so scared. I was on here a little over 2 months ago and then I had a miscarriage. I have PCOS and have been through many failed fertility treatments over the last 2 years and now I have become pregnant twice naturally in the last 4 months. I am so scared that it will happen again. My hcg was 60 yesterday, I dont know if that is good or bad I don't know if I am 4 or 5 weeks because I don't get regular periods. My period was induced and started march 27th but I don't know when I ovulated because I don't ovulate normally. I am scared that the hcg is low again. But I am trying to be excited.

Had my first visit today at ob clinic - it was just with the nurse. Signed consents, went over family history, and had blood tests. My ob tests for gestational diabetes at the first appt so I got to do the glucose drink...yum ;). Thankfully I passed! Can't remember everything they are testing my blood for but they took 6 vials of blood! They said not hearing anything from them is good - means no abnormal labs. Go back in a couple weeks for an appt with one of the nurse practitioners...said they may have to wait to hear the heart beat until 11-13 weeks but it sounds like others here are already going to be hearing it before then. They said only one u/s at 18 weeks as long as everything stays normal. Kinda wish I could see this little one sooner - especially since its our first. Excited to head into week 6 on Saturday.

Hello Week five. I had my first prenatal apt today. Still wish I had the blood test results back just to confirm my hpts, but sometime next week. Still quite nauseous and crampy.

sarebear - 21 days ago
congrats all on your bfp,and how exciting wyattsmommy i'm a mum of near 12 year old twin girls, it was a real exciting journey and I found out quite early too. skaimr i'm terrible for getting hormonal in early pregnancy, I get very moody at the start and especially when the morning sickness kicks in I feel horrible, and am quite mean, because i'm feeling frustrated...when the morning sickness ends I feel happy again, but still emotional in a more sentimental kind of way, become sweet and teary lol...from memory I get a bit snarky at the end because I just want everything to be perfect

Its my first experience & I'm very nervous. I'm 24 & don't know with whom to share all this. Hope you can make me feel better. Wanna ask, Is remaining sad & angry is normal at this time..???

I am with everyone who is feeling bloated!! I feel and look huge for being 5 weeks, I definetely look different then 2 weeks ago, lol..As for Craving I haven't really craved too much yet..welll I guess salty foods I usually don't eat salty foods though. My first pregnancy I craved fatty foods, second was fruits and lemons, third was more fatty foods and my last pregnacy was everything sweet couldn't get enough chocolate. Congrats to all thouse who are expecting or just finding out. I am pretty nervous of starting this journey so unexpected again, but I would like to enjoy it as this is our last :(

question for all the ladies who have been preg before: what were your cravings? With my first son I craved junk: big macs, salt and vinegar chips, and entenmann's chocolate covered donuts. With my second son I craved fruit, lol! No cravings yet with baby number 3...

Hoping to hold off telling work as long as possible to avoid having to change my job status... I hate working light duties. Last pregnancy was torture at work lol
