Born & Birth stories

This week your baby has an amazing growth spurt. At the beginning of this week, your baby is approximately 4 to 5 mm and by the end of the week it has more than doubled to 11 to 13 mm! Your baby weighs approximately 0.03 ounces. Most women are ready for the world to know they are pregnant. Whenever you are ready to spread the news with your friends and family, consider the many unique and creative ways of doing so to make this a special time in your life! Even though you have not changed very much yet, it will come soon! You might have gained a small amount of weight by now, but it should only be a couple of pounds at this time. It is not unusual to lose a few pounds or remain the same though. Internally, cervical mucus is thickening and will form a plug in the cervical canal. The plug seals your cervix throughout the pregnancy and it will be expelled prior to delivery when your cervix begins to dilate.

Within your developing baby, leg and arm buds are longer now and they have divided into segments where the hands and feet will be. The hands and feet also have an area where the fingers and toes will begin to form. At this point of your pregnancy, the heart is bulging from the body and it has divided into right and left chambers. The hemispheres of the brain are continuing to grow and the air passages into the lungs are visible. The eyes are beginning to get pigment at this time as well. The nose is developing and the beginning of the face can be seen. Likewise, the abdomen is developing quickly and the appendix and pancreas are already present. As the digestive tract is beginning to form, the hindgut is present. The shape of the tail can still be seen, but it will fade in 3 or 4 weeks.

Even pregnant women get sick occasionally. You should not take any medications during pregnancy unless your doctor has approved them first. If a problem does not resolve or you need medication, your caregiver can give you advice on relief options that are safe during pregnancy. Take good care of yourself by eating nutritious foods, exercising lightly, drinking extra water and getting an adequate amount of rest.

Mood swings can be a pain in pregnancy. It could be hormones, or a touch of anxiety at the idea of all the coming responsibility.

Limb buds are growing quickly, and they actually look more like arms and legs, with small separations which will become toes and fingers.

Beginning week 7 today. Morning sickness has made it's appearance. I have felt nauseous the last 2 days but nothing I can't handle. Mostly when I'm hungry and I always love an excuse to eat. ;) I just hope and pray it doesn't get as bad as it did with my son. Hope all is well for everyone and sorry to hear of losses.

Mmmmm ice cream.....

JET3 - 209 days ago
Thank you all for being so honest. I was on this site with my last pregnancy and everyone only talked about how wonderful they felt. It feels good to check in and see that i'm not alone with these many preggo symptoms. My newest one is that im soooo hungry! and these cravings are driving me nuts! My husband brought home the wrong ice cream last night and I couldn't even talk to him for about an hour because I didn't want to be mean to him. I hate these mood swings!

*dcsfantasticfour - 210 days ago
HOLY HELL!!!!! I hate hate hate hate this morning sickness business :( I can't wait for it to pass so I can enjoy being pregnant

*dcsfantasticfour - 211 days ago
((((Cyber hugs)))) we are all cranky, tired, emotionl, nauseous, and above all trudging out the 1st trimester :-/. I am battling the worst morning, noon, and night sickness. Exhaustion with added help from my 4 daughters and work. Clothes already tight due to the bloating and grown 2 sizes in my bra. FML ladies.

stephaikens - 211 days ago
Is anyone else super bloated? I want to wear maternity pants already. 😕

Mama2be09-09-2014 - 211 days ago
Nellie so glad you got to hear the heartbeat. They say if you get an US between 7-11 weeks and the heartbeat is normal you have a 90% chance of continuing the pregnancy with no complications (miscarriage wise). So that must be a HUGE relief! My ultrasound isn't until the 4th so I still have to wait a long time. Even though I've already had an ultrasound and baby had a heartbeat it'll be nice to have another one and actually hear the heartbeat and see bean and know everything is alright. Tassie- that's kinda funny and cute your son is jealous. My daughter gets that way sometimes with my bf as well. She gets in between us when we hug cuddle or kiss lol but I think she still likes him. She will sit in his lap and lay on his chest and play hide and seek with him. Just give him some time. I think he will get used to Adrian. And nope. I haven't had necessarily restless legs. My whole body has been restless. I keep moving around in my sleep. I can't get comfortable which sucks cause I know it's only gonna get worse as I get bigger. So does anyone have a baby bump yet? - 211 days ago
Anyone else having restless legs at night? It's driving me crazy. I am not so excited this time around lol. I realize that the bloat, nausea, heartburn, tiredness, constipation, gas and sore boobs will eventually go away (minus exhaustion), but being preg is not fun. I'm also dealing with my 4 yr old being jealous of my bf. I didn't introduce them for the past yr and now the preg. My son doesn't like us to hug or anything. I remind him how much I love him and that he is my number one dude no matter what but still he won't give. We will all be moving in together next month so hope he will get less jealous and accept Adrian as mine and his family.

sarah6485 - 211 days ago
Here here i need looking after feeling this rough

Mama2be09-09-2014 - 212 days ago
So today I have been super cranky. I'm attributing it to being pregnant so I don't feel like such a b!tch lol everything and everyone is annoying me. And I don't necessarily feel bad but I don't really feel good either. It's like a dull nausea, ache, pain and headache. Nothing crazy but everything hurts and so even though it's dull pain it's still annoying. Being hungry and tired I don't think helps. :-/ ugh!!! I just wanna be loved up on. I need some cuddlin.

sarah6485 - 212 days ago
Sickness has got even worse today im struggling as have alot to do in a day and feel awful :-( i cant wait until it eases off. I read sickness peaks then eases off?

NixSA - 213 days ago
the exhaustion is the worst. its made me too lazy to do anything around the house. i eat a lot of bran muffins u ladies should try that. i add raisins too.

Mama2be09-09-2014 - 213 days ago
Sooooo exhausted!!!!!!! Time for a 20 hour nap.

Jewels29 - 213 days ago
Thanx mama! It's so worrying though isn't it! I just woke up and it's barely there now so fingers crossed! Sarah I struggled to go the other day and I haven't been since so I reckon constipation is going to be my other pet hate! Role on week 12 and beyond when we can hopefully relax and enjoy our pregnancies!!! Xx

sarah6485 - 214 days ago
See you do have symptoms with the sore boobs and constipation. This is my first time ive suffered constipation and its horrible i drink loads of pure orange juice to keep me going regular as if stop i cant go for days and feel more yukky :-(

Mama2be09-09-2014 - 214 days ago
Jewels I have been spotting every single day of this pregnancy except the past three days (that is when it stopped). Had an emergency US and baby was just fine and the US tech was able to detect the baby's heartbeat. Spotting is normal in early pregnancy. As long as it is not accompanied by crippling cramps and bright red blood you'll be just fine :) I'm glad you got to hear your Bubba! That's so exciting!!!

Jewels29 - 214 days ago
Hi ladies well I have been in a&e all day today as been spotting brown, scan showed baby with heartbeat and measured 7 weeks and 2 days! I'm just freaking out about this spotting! It's only when I wipe and it's only brown, anyone else had this???? Xxx

Mama2be09-09-2014 - 214 days ago
Cupcake lol that would be crazy if you had 9 children! :-p and tell me about it. January 28 seems like a while away. My scan isn't until the 4th. I already got an emergency US though where I was dated right at 6 weeks (last week Monday) so it puts me right in line to be due around the 8-9 of September. I didn't hear little beans heart beat but I got all the readings from the scan and baby's heart rate was 99bpm :) it will be crazy getting ultrasounds kind of later in the trimester though :) baby should be moving around and actually look like a little baby....or a gummy bear by then! And tassie, I have not even thought about what I was gonna do , introducing pregnant belly to my 1.5 year old..... I should be around 20 weeks by her 2nd birthday. Maybe once I start getting bigger I'll tell her that she will be a sister and point at my belly and say baby. She knows what babies are so I think she will get it :-p - 214 days ago
My profile is off as well. Empty as a matter of fact. This site used to be well kept. Obviously not the case anymore. I am def preg still nausea and constipation like the rest. I def feel a hardness in my abdomen which I don't remember feeling so early in my last preg with ds. How are you all planning on getting a first child acclimated to having a baby in the tummy? My son is 4 1/2 and a crazy guy!

CuppycakeMama - 214 days ago
mama to be all your symptoms sound JUST like mine to a T. lol. the constipation is the worst I hate it! and the extreme fatigue. I also feel like I could cry at the drop of a dime. seriously crazy! This site is definitely out of whack and it is SUPER annoying. like it saying I have 9 children?? ummm no lol I have 3...and 4th on way. tried fixing it but nothing works. oh well. im currently due September 4th...but don't go for my 1st apt/scan till jan 28th. ugh another week seems like it is so far away!

Mama2be09-09-2014 - 214 days ago
I've realized none of our names are on this list and the dating is way off.... My due date is September 9 but it says week 7 is for babies from late July to early August.......

Mama2be09-09-2014 - 214 days ago
My nausea comes and goes. Last night and this morning it wants to push me over the edge. Even when I don't have nausea though my boobs are tender (sometimes more sore than others), I'm exhausted (I can sleep 16-18 hours), tmi but I'm constipated, extremely thirsty, and my back and uterus and cervix are starting to hurt. I didn't really feel this until later with my first baby but they do say with your second baby you feel everything quicker and look pregnant quicker. I feel like my cervix is being stabbed with a sharp needle and like my ligaments in my back and womb and starting to stretch. It's painful and uncomfortable. The pain actually woke me up in the middle of the night a couple of times. I think all this on top of nausea, it's pushing me over the edge. Id rather not be nauseous :(

sarah6485 - 214 days ago
Do you have any other symptoms though? Like my nipples are terribly sore. I wouldnt overthink the not feeling sick my friend never had it with any of her pregnancies

NixSA - 214 days ago
Yea Its not nice!! I want to rather be sick again lol... I have had it in waves but hardly. Just pretty dam tired a lot! I look hugely pregnant today!!!

Mama2be09-09-2014 - 215 days ago
I'm actually not in this week until tomorrow, Nellie and nixsa I imagine you are just fine. Have positive thoughts about your babies and pregnancies even though I know it's hard. The first trimester is super nerve wrecking!! I have had ms on and off. It was really bad when I had my iud in and since they have taken it out I have felt mild nausea. No cramping or blood but still it's nerve wrecking. I've done some research and lots of moms just say it's normal to have a mild pregnancy. So if you're having a good day and aren't nauseous, count your blessings and be happy baby allowed you a break. Currently I am feeling slightly queasy after feeling nothing and having good days for about 3 days. I'm sure you're just fine :)

NixSA - 215 days ago
hardly any morning sickness today which makes me worry....

sarah6485 - 215 days ago
Sickness just keeps getting worse :-( and im very constipated dont think that helps

phiawill - 216 days ago
Hi mommies! How is everyone feeling? I got to see my little bean last week and was SO overwhelmed, this is my third but it is still amazing to see this miracle going on inside. Kinda makes the MS and aversion to food in general much more worth it. Enjoy your week ladies. :-)

NixSA - 217 days ago
Really, i didnt know that but im glad because i will be 11.6 when i have my next scan to check for complications etc.

sarah6485 - 217 days ago
Thanks girls my dating scan is booked for march 3 rd thats when il get my actual due date :-) they say its more accurate to date at around 12 weeks

NixSA - 217 days ago
Sarah such an amazing moment... happy for you that all is as it should be. Have any of you thrown some names around yet? DH and I started a list this morning and we have noticed our names are inspired by the Pretty Little Liars Cast haha - we are huge fans! We like Ezra and Gareth for boys names and We like Emily for a girl. Wont have a second name... we have just decided to make a list and hang it up and add and take off as we go. With DS it was sooo difficult. Girl names are definitely easier than boy names!

NixSA - 217 days ago
Hi Ladies... Nice to be in week 7. Nausea and throwing up like mad! never had this with DS... and its all day sickness...
