By the end of your second month of pregnancy, your baby is about the size of a pinto bean and is approximately 14 to 20 mm long. If this is your first pregnancy, you still probably will not be showing yet. However, if this is not your first pregnancy you might be able to tell that you are pregnant. You will notice a slight change in how your clothes fit and your doctor can tell that your uterus is larger than normal. Before you were pregnant, your uterus was about the size of your fist. However, by 6 weeks of pregnancy, your uterus has grown to the size of a grapefruit!
Your baby is developing at an amazing rate during these early weeks. Eyelid folds and ears are forming. Your baby's eyes are still very wide apart on the sides of her head, but will eventually center themselves out. The tip of the nose is actually present at this time as well. On ultrasound you can see that the aortic and pulmonary valves of the heart are present. The tubes that lead from the throat to lungs are branching and your baby's torso is getting longer and beginning to straighten out. Just a few weeks ago, your baby's arms were tiny buds. Now the elbows are actually present and the arms and legs extend forward and have grown longer. Fingers and toes are becoming visible also.
One of the symptoms that you might feel around this time of your pregnancy is cramping or pain in your lower abdomen or side as your uterus grows. Some pregnant women feel tightening or contractions of the uterus. Do not get alarmed if you do not feel this though. If tightening of the uterus or contractions is accompanied by bleeding, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately. Many pregnant women also experience an occasional pain that begins in their buttocks and radiates down their back or legs. This is known as sciatic nerve pain and can be extremely painful at times. More than likely the pain is caused by the pressure on the nerve and it is best to lie on the opposite side to relieve the pressure.
The tiny person is protected by the amniotic sac, filled with fluid. Inside, the child swims and moves gracefully. The arms and legs have lengthened, and fingers can be seen. The toes will develop in the next few days.
The umbilical cord contains 3 blood vessels which link your baby's system to yours. The big one supplies your baby with blood which is rich in oxygen. The two smaller blood vessels return blood to the placenta. This blood is low in oxygen, and full of waste materials. At birth, umbilical cord can be two to four feet long.

adymar -- my sister has shown some signs as well -- but I think its because she is trying and wants to get pregnant so badly that she is talking herself into feeling ill. So far, she has had no luck.

lovelyluney--Alright...I just tried your suggestion of Madame Zaritska's gender/labor prediction for fun. It said I was going to have a 12 pound baby! HolyMoly!I am 5'10 and around 145lbs and my husband is 6'5 235lbs. I knew we may have a big baby but for all our sakes I hope miss Madame Zaritska is dead wrong. :)

Hello Ladies! I cant wait to find out the sex as well. The good thing with all of the tests/calendar's etc. is that they have a 50% chance of getting it right:) I plan on trying intelligender. Thanks for the recommendation. I was looking at www.tellmepinkorblue.com its guaranteed to be correct but it is expensive $150+

Good Day ladies...I have a question for anyone willing to answer...My sister is telling me she is having pregnancy symptoms..tender breasts, nausea & sleepiness. She went to her docter and she's not pregnant but he asked her if there was someone close to her that was. She told him about me and he asked if we were close she answered yes and he told her she was feeling sympathy symptoms for me.. I've heard the husbands feeling these symptoms but my sister? has this happened to anyone else?
amckay - 23.9 hours ago

I haven't piped in for a while. Morning sickness is still prevailing. My doc also gave me phenagran (sp?) but I can't really take it as it makes me EXTREMELY tired and I have a 1 year old to tend to. Not like I don't feel like I am in a coma readily anyway. I have decided...babies eat your brains.

Finally got back from the Drs. Everything is looking good -- which really means my blood pressure is ok, since that is basically all they checked. I am not worried -- looking forward to next months' appointment when I finally get to hear the heartbeat.

It was correct for my last child which was a boy. This time it is saying a girl but all the other signs say a boy so I really want to try the Intelligender kits.
woopigsooie - 2 days ago
The Chinese gender chart was correct for my sister and sister in law but was not correct on my last 2 children. I have heard lots of people say it was right for them! I haven't checked what it says for this one.
lovelyluney - 2 days ago
i did all of the baby prediction test and lunar stuff. they all said girl. but im having a boy lol.i guess its just right for a percentage..
daisydoo22 - 2 days ago
Sweetbaby12...i did the Chinese Gender predictor last time for my daughter and it said girl, i have also done it for 8 friends of mine over the last few months (who are currently pregnant and who already have children!) Every single time it has come back with the correct sex of the child!! Its quite amazing and i dont think just a coincendance, there is something true in it for sure. I have done it again now for me and its showing another girl, we'll wait and see!!! :)I can hardly wait for the weeks to pass til we can find out...i totally hate surprises!
sweetbaby12 - 2 days ago
Has any one did the gold ring on a string deal? If it spins its a boy, goes back n forth its a girl. Pretty sure i'm having a girl according to it and the chinese lunar calendar.

amckay- That is what I lived on when I was pregnant w/ my daughter. She acutally ended up with the Suppositories instead, b/c I couldn't keep the pills down. It is a medicine used for nausua and vomitting.

Anyway, I've been soooo tired, I could barely walk today, nothing has helped except taking little rests and laying down throughout the day. BOYOBOY-see ya Friday in week 9! :)

Is anyone else extra tired this week? I am dying over here. Getting out of bed has never been such a chore. I am usually active and I feel like my body has been taken over (I know it has but you get what i mean :)) Anyone found a way to beat the sand man?

my3flowers-I got u/s today, hb was 174, they told me at this point anywhere between 150-195 is normal. I heard the wives tale the other way around, fast=boy, LOL, it must be a total farce!

my3flowers I too have a cyst on my right ovary, mine is 5mm. I am getting another ultrasound in Jan to check it. They said it is super common and to not worry too much about it.
boyoboy - 3 days ago
my3flowers - i had this with my first. It should eventually go away or burst (ouch), I don't think there is much out there other than tylenol. Sorry! :(

I have a 28mm cyst on my left ovary causing extreme amounts of pain. Had U/S today to make sure it wasn't baby. Anyone else have this? What can I do-Suggestions welcome as I can't even sleep on my left side! Although, glass half full, I get another U/S on Dec. 10 to check cyst and baby. I'm used to only getting one U/S at 20 weeks! :)

SEIM: You can read about my miscarriage at rodrigueshouse.blogspot.com.
babyshiloh - 3 days ago
SEIM- So sorry. I had that happen to me last December. But here I am again pregnant and baby is growing perfectly. BOYOBOY - Wouldn't worry about the progesterone... just take it tonight. I take my every night just because it is so messy. I sometimes forget some nights but I'm sure with taking the progesterone and missing a day your levels wouldn't drop abruptely.
my3flowers - 3 days ago
Daisydoo, I was at OB today and asked him about heart rate. He advised me that at this point in time all baby's are around the 160 mark. I had heard the same old wives tale as you concerning the heart rate but I thought it was later in pregnancy. Faster heart rate for girls, slower for boys? All three of my girls were certainly on the faster side!
mrsgaylonj - 3 days ago
Had u/s today! Confirmed my edd 6-25, baby is 17.1 mm and hb was 174, they said everything looks great and is moving right along. Next u/s is Dec 4, will be 11 weeks, normally they do 121, not sure why a week early but is a-ok with me. Praise the Lord!! Hope everyone is doing well, sorry about your sad news, seim!! You and your lost baby will be in my prayers.

My u/s went great we saw the heart beat but they didnt give me a rate (which kinda made me mad the doc said it was to early for the doppler) but my next us is on the first of Dec they are going to be testing lil punkin for downs due to it being in my maternal family. I hope everyone is doing great -- btw still no m/s which I am soooo thankful for (only some nauseousness when I am starving lol)
