Sweat after birth

Sweat:
After birth and for the next six weeks or so It is not uncommon to wake up drenched in sweat. I used to find I was absolutely so wet, with drips even falling from the back of my knees. I have read a couple of reasons for this, one being hormones and the other that your body's getting rid of the extra fluid that it retained during pregnancy. Not so nice for you or the man you are sharing a bed with. I don't have any advice for this but to ride it out. It does eventually stop.

snowdrop - Monday, 23 Feb I did sweat buckets the night I got home and woke up freezing cold. I think it was my body getting rid of excess fluid as my ankles went back to being birdsleg thin after a hard nights sweating. I noticed that I felt so tiny after it!
SilverLining - Sunday, 15 Feb haven't delivered yet.. but for this, I'd say getting one of those plastic pillow & mattress covers sets, that you sheets can go oer. that way you don't ruin the mattress n pillws, just have to cleanthe bedding cloths. was planing to get this set even before I knew of this sweat thing. Now I am even more sure I will do so. :)
Debra - Monday, 4 Aug i had the same thing happen. My midwife explained it was the only way the excessive swelling in your abdomen goes away. My husband was nice and i had a shower twice daily for those first few weeks!
ABCMommy - Thursday, 10 Jul I had no idea that this was with other women! I would totally soak my pjs the first few weeks, glad to hear it wasn't just me! Thanks!
