I am nursing my two month old son. He is having a reaction to the dairy/soy that I am eating. For over a month now, I haven`t had had any dairy/soy and he is still having problems. The GI wants me to start him on formula, I don`t want to give up on breasfeeding but want to find out what is wrong with him. I am wondering how demanding pumping will be and if it will really keep up my supply if I stop nursing for two weeks and give him formula. Also, what are the chances of him not wanting to nurse again after getting a bottle for two weeks? Any suggestions will be helpful!!! THANKS

darci - 225 days ago The reaction my son is having is blood in his stool. That is why the doctors say it's dairy/soy allergy... Just thought I'd clear that up.

I had a friend who couldn't get enough peanut butter which made her little angel break out something fierce. Once she stopped eating it the babies skin cleared up. Dr's are quick to say it's dairy when the majority of reactions are cause by another culprit.

What kind of reaction is your son having. I do not believe it has anything to do with the dairy or soy. You have been nursing him for 2 months so far. It could be a form of acid reflux.

MyBabyHannah - 228 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) Hey there.. When my daughter was 3 weeks old she had to go for an operation and had to have a feeding tube, I was breast feeding at the time and I had to stop for a few weeks.I found Pumping can take a lot from you and can be quite time consuming IF you have a busy life. I suggest taking a herbal suplement called (fenugreek) which helps build milk supply and try to pump no longer than every 3-4 hourly. HOld your baby close while you pump, even if you feed him once every morning.(this is when your milk is at its highest)I stoped breastfeeding for 2-3 weeks and my daughter still new what she was doing. I couldnt produce enough milk after she was 3 months but still breastfeed every morning. i havent bf for about 3 wks now and if i was to put her to the breast she would still no what to do.. dont worry just do what you think is right and what is compfy for you. Also when using formula try using a nipple teat.. you and your baby wil be fine!
