Hi everyone, I was just wondering when I should get things ready for the baby? like when should I wash all her clothes and put her moses basket up? (She doesn`t have her own room at the moment so the moses basket will be in mine).
Just things like that, and putting the carseat in the car!
I`d appreciate any comments on when you did or plan to do these things as I really don`t have a clue about the `normal` time to get ready!
Thankyou all so much :-)

I got things done around 1-2 months before I was going to have my baby. I had my hospital bag ready and everything. :)

I would suggest having the majority of things ready to go by month 7. You want to do as much as you can while you have the energy to do it, and you also want to be prepared "just in case" baby makes a surprise entrance. ;)

I would definetly say to start getting everything ready atleast a month prior. You never know when the baby will come! It is better to be well prepared in advance then to not have anything ready at all!

A month or two before your due date. You'll want to have things ready in case baby comes earlier than you were planning, and so that you can have things in order before you are uncomfortable late in pregnancy.

I would try to prioritize what will take the most time and spread it out gradually as small projects to do to keep you occupied(but not overly so) until baby comes. Rushing in preparation will only leave room for us to forget something, enjoy the quiet moments sorting onesies and arranging clothes and supplies. Anything that's left over that you haven't tackled, that what besties and family are for when they come to visit you when you come home! I myself am taking a seriously relaxed approach- I've only made three blankets thus far and well, all the other stuff can wait I'm in no rush- If for some reason baby comes early husband knows it will lay in his hands to take the wheel while I rest :)

I wouln't wash the items more than a month ahead anything you wash too far in advance will just collect dust.

well its all up to you really but i would say get them sorted before you become heavily pregnant because in those stages you should be resting.
I got my babies clothes washed and ironed when i was 32 weeks plus and i put up the moses basket the day before i went into hospital thats because i had to be induced

i'd plan ahead, I've got several friends whose babies came early!! I would have it ready by atleast a month to go, you just never know. At last resort, if he/she comes early and you're not ready, send the family members to do the dirty work!

Hi Sophie, with my first 2 pregnancies, I had gotten everything ready about a month or two before the due date. You can never have things ready too early because babies come when they want to and sometimes they come a bit early. So having things ready ahead of time, I think, Is a really good idea- You never know

I would start doing it now. I got freaking tired after about 36 weeks and I did all the washing and set up after that yet. I had no fun doing it and it was like a chore. All I wanted to do was sleep. So do it now while you can get around and feel good. Soon you won't and you'll just feel like a beached whale that can't bend over without getting short of breath. Isn't pregnancy fun??!! Don't worry. Baby is much more fun. Enjoy it while you feel good! See my VIP site for some tips on baby stuff that will make your life easier! and tips on labour, what to bring to hospital, breastfeeding and getting baby to sleep through the night!

I'd start right now. That's the best part of having a baby, gettin baby stuff! Besides that, your going to run out of energy some days especially towards then end.

Hi there, I think I was 34 weeks when i got all that stuff ready (i got a phone call to say that my chum had given birth at 34 weeks and that freaked me into packing my hospital bag etc, just to be ready!!! Don't worry too much cause the baby will only come when it's ready and it wont care aslong as you give him/her plenty of love. Good Luck. xx

That's a personal decision for you to make. Personally, I've already got the crib set up and will start washing and organizing clothes, bottles, etc. when I start my mat leave in June (because I'm horrendously anal about being over prepared). My plan was to have everything completely READY for baby around week 36 or so, just in case, and this is because of the countless nightmares I've been having since week 23 that my baby is born NOW and my town is sold out of diapers. *lol*
