I am 28 weeks pregnant and was in the hospital last night with contraction. I recieved three shots of breathine, when they checked me i was 2cm dilated and they said my cervix was extremely soft. I am scared my son was pre-term at 34 weeks and i am wondering when i might deliver.

slnkl - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) don't worry too much, i went through that too and ended up giving birth on the correct date! i was scared as heck too thinking i was going to deliver early! i had all those shots too! don't worry too much, you'll be fine!

vikki - 107 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Oh I had the same thing! Didn't end up delivering 'till 36wks with one, And with another, after they even injected steriods for the babies lungs, I didn't end up having him 'till 38wks! Little rascal, making me worry like that!LOL. So I guess I'm saying TRY not to worry too much and if people offer to help you abit, take the help and rest!

Carmione - 108 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would try to put your worries to rest. Dilation can take weeks, a month to occur. If your dr's believed that you were close to having your baby, I don't think they would have released you from the hospital. The preterm factor in play could be an indicator that you may go early with this pregnancy, or maybe not not every pregnancy is the same or textbook for that matter. I would try to make sure you get good rest from here on out and make sure you stay in close contact with your practitioner. Best of luck to you.

LMO - 108 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) there is really no way to tell you when you will go into labor the baby will come when it is ready too

2nd1ontheway - 108 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Know one can tell when they are going to deliver. Only your baby will decide. SInce you have a history of preterm labor I hope you informed your OB of this and are prepared just in case.

hotlipsmommy - 108 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) at this rate . your baby will more likey be small . i hope you can hold out till your 30 weeks . they babys have more time to get big . hope this help . my cuz had her baby at 33 weeks and she wayed 5./pd . take care

suzanne7210 - 108 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My daughter is a year old and currently prego. With her I had the same as you I went home on breathine every 4 hours and guess what they had to induce me in the end. I am currently 25 weeks prego and have been on breathine now for 5 weeks. I was at docs yesterday and said everything was ok.

eastern-Canadian-Lady - 109 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was due for my daughter on Jan 5th, and was dialated either 2 or 3 cm by my check up in mid December. That baby sure was stubborn. I had her January 21, and only bc I was induced. At the dec appointment, after he said I was dialated, my ob/gyn said that women do dialate and can stay that way for a good deal of time. I found out jsut how true that was. She certainly wasn't early!

Mommyof2boys - 110 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My friend is 28 weeks and had to go in last week because she is 2cm dilated they gave her meds to stop the contractions and then a few days later they started up again they did more meds and then put her on bedrest. There's no way to calculate your going to deliver some women stay dilated for weeks and not go into labor.

Debra - 110 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hydration is a must! When you are not hydrated your uterus can become irritated and contract more. If you are having contractions, drink some water and rest or change position. They should slow down or stop. If your contractions don't stop or become regular, then you are in labour and need to be at the hospital asap. In the meantime, stay positive and relax! If you worry, that only increases stress levels and will make things worse.

captshelley - 110 days ago Rating: 1 (3 votes) You'll deliver at 39 weeks and 6 days. I did the calculation.

Laura Ward - 110 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) There is no real way of telling when you would deliver. The same thing happened to me. With my first child, I began to dilate at 27 weeks. They gave me terbutaline shots and then pills to take home after I was discharged from the hospital, where I stayed for a week with contractions. I was put on bedrest. Right now, you should be resting, doing little to no work and drinking alot of water (being dehydrated can also cause contractions and preterm labor). Ask your doctor about the test that can tell if you are likely to deliver within two weeks and see if they will give you a shot of betamethasone (sp?) which will help your baby's lungs to develop. Maybe that can ease your mind. Stay strong, think positive and best wishes!
