I think I have become anemic. I am exhausted all the time no matter how much sleep I get, I feel week and light headed, and dizzy. I just feel out of it. I am almost 33 weeks, and I havent had my blood checked since 20 weeks. Should I mention this to my doctor, or am I just feeling normal pregnancy symptoms?

This is normal for me, b/c my blood pressure is low. But it is very important that you mention this to your doctor and get your blood checked just to be sure.

Could be low iron, but I would double check with your OB/doc.

I would really bring this up to the doctor so they can run the blood work for you. In the mean time treat it as though you are anemic, eat lots of foods rich in iron and take your prenatals.

Well one quick way of finding out is if you look in the mirror and gently pull down your bottom eyelid. If the inside is nice and darkish pink , you're doing great in the iron department. If the inside is towards the white side of pale pink, then there is an indicater that you may be anemic and you should mention your concern to your Dr. I would let him know how things are going anyway as it also sounds like your bloodpresser may be on the low side ( which can be from a low blood count) I had this with EVERY pregnancy. Eat your greens, apricots and red meats and remember to not take off the skin on potatos:-) You should be taking an iron suppliment already, if you're not, ask your Dr' which brand he would like you to take. Hugs to you:-)

Hi:
I am highly anemic for I am at a 10 right now in my blood work! SO drink lots of water, 1/2 a gallon a day and try to eat liver if you can, I can not, so I sub for peanuts and other things on that boat!!
Ask your doctor and see what they say and get a blood test, aneima is not great for the growth of the fetus at only 20 weeks, so get a blood test to know for sure!! God Bless

Meny pregnat women become anemic infact most do come down with it at least mildly. You can ask your doctor for an iron supplement. It should go away a few weeks after you have your baby.

Def. mention it to your doctor, and have your blood checked. In the meantime, take a higher dose of iron. I'm anemic, and have been off and on for many years. My obgyn has be on a very high iron dosage.

I would talk to your doctor about this and see if you should get another blood test but I think its just a normal part of being pregnant. Not much longer though.

Please contact your Dr. regarding this. If you are anemic then you will need to take iron pills to help supplement.

Isn't it amazing how our bodies change during pregnancy? Prenatal vitamins have iron in them, but most have different amounts. You can ask for an iron supplement or try eating foods that are rich in iron. Red meats, beans, leafy vegetables, etc. Check out the article on anemia in the forum for additional information. Your doctor can draw blood to find out if you are actually lacking iron. Towards the end of your pregnancy, you are going to feel more tired anyways, so make sure you are drinking plenty of water and getting lots of rest.

Most women who become pregnant also become anemic because your baby is sucking a lot of the iron supply in your blood system so they give you iron pills. I am anemic and those iron pills suck.

Have your doctor do a cbc (complete blood count) and check your BP. I'm 32 weeks and have also been dizzy, blood count is good and so is BP my doctor said the bigger we get the more our balance is unstable and can make us feel dizzy, also sometimes depending on where you are allergies/sinus infections can mess with your equalibrium making you feel "out of it" and dizzy. Drink plenty of water and what works for me is I apply a lot of pressure and kind of pinch the top of my nose near my forehead and I feel better.

It is normal to become exhausted and tired in the later part of pregnancy. However you should mention it to your doctor and have your blood checked because people do become anemic. Try to take it easy and get off your feet when you feel dizzy. Take prenatal vitamins.

You definately should mention this to your dr. Extra fatigue can be a sign of pregnancy induced anemia-or a general feeling of malaise. Are you/are you still taking prenatals? I would ask about having a blood panel done to check your levels-those results usually come back in less than a weeks time.

The doctor should have requested more blood work for you at 28 weeks. Did you ever have the glucose screening test done? I also think at this point that getting dizzyis normal. With the baby getting bigger and breathing is a little more difficult. But I would definetly mention this to your doctor.

This is quite normal at this stage, you could mention it to your dr. have you had your BP checked lately?, it could be on the low side which is why you feel dizzy.
