I have heard that plain Sudafed is okay to take, I have also heard Tylenol, Benadryl and the regular type of Robitussin are okay too.

Sudafed, Benadryl, Tylenol and plain Robitussin are all considered safe during pregnancy. Also, tylenol pm.

Sudafed is mostly safe, but are you wondering if it's safe for pregnancy? if so, just take Robutessin.

Honestly sudafed makes me jittery. I wouldn't take it.

sudafed is just fine - always in moderation. i doubt that you will let yourself have too much.

I heard the same as the response ahead of me. Regular strength and not the dual remedies that are available. Plain antihistamines are fine during pregnancy, just as tylenol pm's we can take on occasion for pain and or a sleep aid. The pharmacist is always going to give you the answer that avoids any chance that they could give you information that could cause you issues. Yes they are there to help, but at the same time being a little evasive as to protect themselves. It's unfortunate I know when you're looking for answers- for example...I needed a stool softner or an alternative for constipation- Pharm suggested fleet suppositories- come to find out that any other brand would have caused me less pain and abdominal cramping! Wanting a quick answer, I went along with the pharmacist instead of researching a bit more. Don't know if this helped any, but hope it did.

My nurse told me to use Sudafed, but just regular Sudafed--no combinations (like Cold & Cough). I had a hard time finding what the heck she was talking about, tho.

Anything your Dr. says to take is safe. I would listen to them over a pharmicist. Remember your Dr. only has you and your baby in mind. They are also liable if something happens.

That happend to me also. My doctor said its perfectly fine (I got the PE one) and the pharmacists said he didn't recommend it. He didn't even recommend that I take Tylenol so definitely listen to your doctor.

I'm sure if your doctor says it's fine, it would be fine. The only reason that a pharmacist would say no is because #1 - they are not doctors, and #2 - they do it to be safe so that they are not liable for any decisions you make. So I would trust the doctor more... good luck!

Most doctors agree that the plain sudafed is safe during pregnancy. However, it is best not to take anything unless you absolutely must do so. Instead, try a humidifier, nasal sprays, throat gargles and lots of rest. The main concern with pseudophedrine (Sudafed) is that the babies blood vessels can become constricted, which could lead to gastroschisis (a defect in which the stomach contents are on the outside of the body rather than inside the abdomen). I hope you feel better soon!

My doctor said that was the only thing I could take when I got a bad head cold. I also turned the vick's steamer on and plastered my chest with it. I also took the Sudafed every four hours.

I was told by doc and checked webmd that sudafed was fine to take and yes you can take it every 4 to 6 hours for cold..IMO it doesn't work that great though but I was happy to take something for this darn cold.

As far as i'm aware there is very little evidence regarding whether this drug is safe or not for your onborn baby, therefore i would avoid it if you can, that's why your pharmacist is bein cautious. If you are having sinus problems i would suggest saline sniffs - boiled water and salt mixed, put some in the palm of your hand and sniff it, it will help clear them, do this 3-4 times a day maximum. Hope this helps, all the best. xx

I am not really sure either but wanted to tell you that my ob said it was okay but the same thing as you happened...the pharmacist said it wasn't okay
