Everyone has been wonderful with answering my questions, now i am just very scared. My FFN came back positive today, but my cervix is still sitting ok at 3cm. I had my last dose of steriods today and they said the baby would be ok with just this one dose, but i am so worried about having a 29-30 week baby. I am on strick bedrest, drinking plenty of water, but i know i will be having a pre-term baby. So what can i expect in the next two weeks. I know if he is ready to come he will on bedrest or not but i still wish there was more i could do.

Listen to everything your doctor tells you to do and keep drinking that water!

I know one of the biggest things they always say is to drink a ton of water. Keeping hydrated is good for the cervix, if you don't drink enough water it can cause the cervix to become irritable and contract.

I hope everything works out for you. I know its hard to think of a preterm baby but try to be glad the baby is 29/30 weeks and not 24 weeks or something, the baby has most of everything he needs to survive and the last thing is the lungs and thats what the steroids are for, but still at 29/30 weeks he has a great chance and will not have to stay long in the hospital. Good luck!! I'll be praying for you and your little one.

Do you have someone at home with you to make sure that you are being a good girl and STAYING in BED?! That is the best thing to do, nothing straining. NO "CUDDLES" from hubby ( if you know what I mean) All you can do is everything that the Doc' tells you and don't cut corners with the advice the he gives you. Stay calm, whatch some nice girly movies ( no action as that will increase your adrenline levels), Hay, Little house on the Prairie would be good!LOL. Anyway, try not to stress and enjoy being pampered. You're going to be busy enough when the baby comes:-) They have given the steroids and so baby will be fine, they're stronger than we think and the baby will be in good hand in the Neo Nate Unit. Keep smiling, :-)

The most important thing is to listen to what your doctors says. Bedrest is CRUCIAL. Complete bedrest--no lifting, no housework, no sex, no shopping, no nothing. I know firsthand just how hard it is. Get you some crossword puzzles, duoku books, magazines, books, scrapbook stuff and stay busy. Use this time to get some much needed rest. If you knit or crochet, start a new project. As hard as it is going to be, try not to stress. Stress will only make things worse for both you and baby. Staying busy will help you stress and worry as much. The good thing is that with all of the advances in medicine and technology, babies are more likely to survive and thrive now. Make sure you are delivering at a hospital with a good, NICU. It may make it easier on you that you know ahead of time that you will be delivering early and that you wont be getting a shock if it does occur. I am glad that you have had the steroid shot. My first son had those and he had (and still has) lungs of steel!! Best wishes.

i had to have one of these as well, i have been put on tributlene (sp?) to stop my contractions. I was fortunate that mine came back neg though. I can tell you that i know someone that got a positive and after getting bedrest and something to stop the contractions along with steroids things seemed to halt...she ended up getting preeclampsia though and they ended up inducing her. So much for keeping her preggers. Anyhow try your best not to stress, do everything your dr tells you to, and have faith that it will work out. There is sooo much that they can do for premies now. Good luck sweetie and i hope that he stays in a little bit longer.
