has anyone been diagnosed with a friable cervix? I just was at 15 weeks! Is there any way to make it better? My cervix bleeds every time it is touched sexually or by the dr.

I have actually never heard this term, is it like having an incompetent cervix? The doctor will probably advise against sex if they haven't said so already.

i would definetly write down all of your concerns and questions so that the next time you see your doctor you don't forget any of them. I do that, b/c i know that i can get caught up in the hustle of the appt and then when i get out i have all these questions left that i want to ask. so i would suggest finding out all that you can by talking to your dr. I would think that with that kind of diagnosis that you would be considered high risk and seeing specialist...but i dont know. Anyhow, good luck :)

Often a colposcopy and cryotherapy is performed as treatment. but you definately need to get that checked out

How long has this been happening? It sounds like you will need proper investigations by a gynaecologist once you have delivered. It is most common if you have an STD or HPV but this is not always the case. Did the Dr who diagnosed this take any swabs? If not i would suggest he/she does because if there is an infection there you may need an antibiotic or you may need to have antibiotic cover during delivery to limit the exposure to your baby. I would ensure that you tell any medical staff that you have this condition before they examine them and always check whether the examination is necessary to reduce risk of more bleeds. Also i would maybe consider not having sex until you are checked for infection and check with you DR if it is safe for you to be intimate. I hope this helps and i will keep my fingers crossed that you get the all clear. xx

I have not been but i was diagnosed with a incompentent one which i bleed and the cervix just opens on its own. i have been lucky to make it to 29 weeks but, i am now due to deliver within 2weeks. I know having HPV and other STDs can cause you to have this problem. I do not think there is any way to fix it, you just have to be careful with what you do. The doctor may tell you no sex and they may limit your vaginal exams cause it is not good to bleed. I hope it works out for you and good luck.
