Has anyone had an IUD fitted after brith? If so, How long does it take before your periods become regular? And will the spotting ever stop?

Brandi J. - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Have you studied up on the side effects of the IUD and what it actually does to keep you from getting pregnant? I am telling you this, only b/c most women are not told this, and they don't know to look. But w/ an IUD, what actually takes place is that you are able to get pregnant, but when it comes time to implant into your uterine lining, the IUD keeps this from happening, so actually your body has to abort the baby that is already beginning to form. I encourage you to educate yourself on this before deciding whether or not to get it.

LMO - 101 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) well after i had my daughter i went to my 6 weeks and i got the 5 year IUD when it was put in i spotted a couple days and then nothing for 2 1/2 years until i took it out.

vdlovell - 102 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had one put in about 2 months after I had my daughter. It took about 6 months for my periods to become regular and now a year later I am not having periods anymore. I was getting very annoyed with my IUD and was about to get it removed. I stuck with it and now Im happy!

holly28 - 103 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My best friend had an IUD put it after she gave birth to her daughter. I was asking her about it because I too am considering this option once my baby is born. She told me that her period didn't return until after she had stopped breast feeding but that getting the IUD put in was one of the greatest decisions she made. She didn't have any spotting apparently, and it made her birth control easy because she didn't have to think about it. My sister on the other hand also has an IUD and she says that her period is very irregular but also agrees that this was an excellent choice. So, I think it depends on the individual.

mommy-of-3 - 103 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I am personally considering this as a birth control option, I wasn't aware that it messed with your periods like that.

michaela - 103 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm in the same situation as you, i had one inserted 2 weeks ago and am still cramping and spotting, i've had one before (although it hadn't given birth the last time) and i think it took about 2-3 months before things regulated themselves. I had a mirena one.

Darianna - 103 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I got one after my daughter was born, in 2002!! I never got my period with it and I still got pregnant, lost the baby though! I think Mirana is the best one now a days, but I do not have to worry about that, I am getting my tubs done!! Good Luck!
