How common is it to have no periods while you are breast feeding?

Brandi J. - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My 2nd child was my 1st breastfeeder, I didn't get my period back until he was 12 1/2 mos old. I found out I was expecting my 3rd child when he was 13 mos old, and then after having my 3rd child, I never got my cycle back, and found out I was expecting my 4th child when she was 9 mos old. I found out I was expecting my 3rd child when he was 13 mos old, and then after having my 3rd child, I never got my cycle back, and found out I was expecting my 4th child when she was 9 mos old. Now with my 4th child, I didn't get my cycle back and I found out I am expecting my 5th child and she is 13 mos old. It is different for everybody. I love how far breastfeeding has spaced my babies out and I LOVE not having to deal w/ my period! In the past 6 1/2 years, I have only had 8-9 periods!!

wildberry - 103 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it really depends on the woman i started my period at six months with my first and bf for 16months so the no period thing wail bf didnt work for me my sis is also bf and just started her period and she is only 8weeks postpartum

mayasmom - 103 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I am breastfeeding my 10 week old exclusively, yet I got my period 9 weeks post delivery. I read that using a breast pump can interfere with the natural breastfeeding/menstruation connection, in that your body doesn't recognize it the same way as baby suckling. I have done a lot of pumping and bottle feeding because my son is a preemie....

LMO - 103 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it is very common not to have a period while breast feeding

JennSever - 103 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) the entire time i nursed all three of my kids i never had a period... but pls use birth control just in case.

Baby3OnWay - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I hear it is very common and wished I was asking the same question three years ago when I was breastfeeding, BUT I was unfortunate to get mine monthly! Enjoy it but remember your contraceptives because you are still fertile whether you get it or not!!! I LEARNED THE HARD WAY!! I'm 16+weeks and my son is only 5 months old now. Good luck!

kayla-love - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hi, I have´nt had my period yet and I´m breastfeeding. With my 1st baby I got my period after I stopped breastfeeding. I know it is common not to have a period whilst breastfeeding but not with all women. I would still use protection whilst having sex though just to be safe.

jah-baby - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) ummm..i have never heard of that..is there any reason why u think u arent getting it?

slnkl - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) its common, but it will differ. with every woman.

mommy-at-home - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is very common.

missreader - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Most women do not have periods while they exclusively or mainly breastfeed.

mattie4 - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it is very common. I didnt have any until i started introducing solids to my baby and he wasnt relying so much on my breasts as the main source of food. Some women even if they are only breastfeeding and nothing else will get their period. i was one of the lucky ones :P

Darianna - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hi: Most moms either get one or not!! I know with my daughter I did not get one till I stopped BF!! I am so excited to BF my son to be!! I would not do it any other way!! Just pray and god bless!!

Carmione - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I didn't start getting my periods again until about 10 month into breast feeding. By that time we were supplementing with formula and other foods, so I wasn't nursing as much. It is very common to have lighter, or no periods for a time when you are breastfeeding your baby.

vikki - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes it is common. B/F isn't a guarantee that you won't get them, it's just oftern. :-)

kater - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) yes, it is extremely common to stop having periods while BF'ing. i fed for 14 months, and only started having them when my daughter was around 10 months

Mommyof2boys - 104 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Its very common, but everyone's body is different. I breastfed for over a year and never had my period until I stopped, others can get it anytime.

michaela - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i've been breastfeeding for almost 6 months and only had one period so far.

candace3 - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Very common. I had my daughter in June and didn't get my 1st period until April.
