I had to go to hospital because I couldn`t keep anything down, the doctor said it might be food poisoning. Can this hurt my baby? He said it couldn`t, but he didn`t do any tests either. please help if you can :)

I think that if it was severe enough to harm your baby then the doc. would have done further testing. Was this your OB that you saw at the hospital? If not, call him/her and explain what happened to them, b/c he/she is better equipped to answer the question as to "if this could harm your baby", than an ER doc. (assuming that is all you saw)

just as the others have said - you don't really have to worry about your baby. your body does most of the digesting before your baby gets their "portion" so in essence you took all the toxins. just flush your body out and things should be fine

Keep drinking plenty of fluids to flush the poisoning out, gatoraid and water are best. If you can't keep it down try a little bit of lemon in water. I had food poisoning also with this pregnancy once and they said it wouldn't do a thing to the baby.

the placenta is an awesome barrier for the baby. your baby will be fine. i have had stomach flu, food poisoning, you name it (lucky me) all of my babies were fine and didnt effect them at all. bood luck and i hope you get to feeling better. Oh and do make sure that you do your best to stay hydrated that can effect the baby, and dehydration can set off preterm labor

As far as stomach bugs go- they really just have to run their course as there's not much except anti nausea medications that can be given. I had salmonella with my son twice from under cooked chicken-ugh and well basically I was ill for about a month without any let up. Make sure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. If for a little while you're not able to keep anything down-your baby will be just fine. Just think of the stomach woes as a little extra dose of morning sickness that lingers. I hope you feel better soon. Ginger beer (it's not really beer) is a nice alternative to Ginger Ale and helps soothe the stomach. I tried it early on in my pregnancy and it worked for me. Take care now.

My baby was just fine and shes is a healthy baby now (she is 2 mth )Just make sure you keep drinking fluids so your not getting dehydrated. The baby is well protected in there its just us that seem to suffer lol. Hope you get better soon.

I read something about this in one of my books and rest assured food poisoning does not hurt your baby. If you are throwing up in excess make sure you are trying to drink liquids so you don't get dehydrated though.

Have you eaten anything risky? Is your partner sick too? Are you also having diarrohea? If you answer yeas to theses questions then it probably is food poisoning. ~If not then i doubt it is food poisoning. Have you been bad with morning sickness? Apart from getting a bit dehydrated you and bub should be just fine. Make sure you get plenty of fluids and get lots of rest.
