I have cut back to the recommended amount of no more than 2 cups of coffee/ day. I still drink tea, just not as much. I suggest cutting back, but not switching to decaf b/c the chemicals used to make the drink decaf are actually worse for you and your baby than caffeine. The same is true for diet drinks, stick w/ the originals, just cut back!

No but I definitely cut back. My mom drank coffee when she was pregnant with me and I came out perfectly fine with no ADHD or anything like that, so I'm not too worried about it.

during my last two pregnancies i switched from caffinated coffee to half decafe and eventually to decaf... I had to have the taste in the morning to wake me up. This time around, my third pregnancy I haven't switched. SOunds bad but a nice cup of cofee in the morning for me helps me go number 2.. and during pregnancy the worste thing is not going... sorry if TMI but I had to give a reason for not stopping and for me that was reason enough! Good Luck if your trying though! Oh and I have a fountain pepsi here and there I just crave the nice coldness of it, I figured its pretty much watered down and sometimes the only thing that quenches my thirst. I guess as long as its not all day everyday you will be fine. Take care

You can still enjoy your favorite caffeinated drinks as long as you don't overdo it. After years of controversy over the issue, most researchers now believe that, although caffeine does cross the placenta, moderate amounts (less than 300 milligrams a day) won't harm your baby.

heck no..lol i mean i dont drink it as much but i think thats like the hardest thing to do..i just drink like maybe a cup whenever i go to a friends house or if im at a gathering and its available.the key is just not to buy it.only drink it when ur around it once in a while and limit it to only one cup..like a teaser.especially if it coffee but girl i would go insane without pepsi

I had one cup a day all during pregnancy, and had a 8 lb. 11 oz baby at 39 weeks!!! So much for reduced birthweight!! :) I think as long as you use moderation, you will be fine

I am drinking a caramel frappachino from starbucks as we speak!! Pre-pregnancy I was having at least 2-3 big mugs of coffee a day, plus a glass or two of pop. Now it's really random I might go an entire week with nothing. I'm not too worried about it.

I drank atleast one coke a day through out my whole pregnancy and had a very healthy baby girl. Not even a minor cold four months later. Don't stress too much.

I have read on several websites that you don't have to cut it out completely, especially if you normally drank a lot of it, you might get worse side effects from being off of it cold turkey, like headaches and such (withdrawal type symptoms). Most sites say that a pregnant woman can even have up to 3 cups of coffee a day (300 mg a day of caffeine is the general limit), although I would think that just trying to keep it to a minimum would be the best idea as caffeine is still a chemical stimulant that traverses the placenta and to the baby. So I don't think there is any need for a lot of worry as long as you are conscious of your intake and taking in caffeine in moderation.
I personally don't drink coffee to begin with or any pop for that matter, so it wasn't hard for me to cut back to decaf teas...but I still have my hot cocoa or chocolate here and there.

nope I am a caffeine junkie. I was drinking 3-4 XL cups of tim hortons coffee every day before I got pregnant. Now that I am pregnant I drink maybe 1-2 small cups of tea. So I have gone from about 500mg at least a day of caffeine to only 50-100mg. For me, this is a miracle.

I cut out caffeine this time around completely,(well except for once in a blue moon I have to have a Reese's peanut butter cup!) I still drink pop but it's the ones that don't have caffeine (like Sprite)When I was pregnant with my first son I drank Pepsi everyday though lol. Right now the only thing I miss is my french vanilla cappaccino, boy I have wanted one for the last 3 months now!

i had to- my coffee made me sick and later, the baby would go crazy with kicking if i had any caffeine. I got headaches when i quit, but i lessened the headaches by weaning myself down slowly- first to black tea then to green tea, then to nothing. I would advise that for those who get headaches too- lulizzle- migraines are often triggered by caffeine and the dehydration that goes along with too much diuretic intake. Make sure you are drinking enough WATER when you quit as well- it will decrease your headaches. Tylenol is also safe to take while pregnant and can help you get over the hump. It took me about 3 weeks to get over the addiction and now its nice to wake up without feeling like i'm in a fog until i get my morning cup of coffee.

OH! and starbucks drinks taste the same if your latte's (or whatever) are made with DECAF espresso. I haven't missed caffeine at all. I also get decaf beans from some of my favorite coffee shops. AND i'm from Vancouver where coffee is practically a religion and sitting at coffee shops a way of life.

I haven't all the way, I stopped for a spell, but once I got further past being sick almost everyday and the heartburn I would have half a cup of coffee here and there as a little treat.
