A friend has five children, and she said that with all three of her girls she was sick, but with both her boys, she didn`t even know she was pregnant. Another friend never was sick with both her pregnancies, and they were both boys. Is there any weight to this sickness v. nonsickness gender determination?

I don't think it has anything to do with gender, just an old wives tale. I was sick for 5 months with my first and that was a girl, wasn't sick for my second and it was a booy and this time around I have felt really sick but only sick once or twice and I have no idea what it is yet... I'm going to guess girl just cause I have this feeling, but I am usually wrong! take care! and CONGRATS

My friend had 2 boys one girl, the first boy she wasn't sick the second she was sick everyday for 42 weeks non stop only could eat icecream. The girl she was only sick the first 3 months. I don't think it has anything to do with gender, its just different for everyone.

I have been TOTALLY SICK with my baby boy!! Horrible sickness. I have been hospitalized 4 times already! I had hyperemesis until about week 15, then it went away for 2 weeks, and now I have what I will consider 'normal' morning sickness - I only throw up about twice a week.

I think it has some truth to it. With my son i was a bit sick only the first trimester and after that it was such a breeze! With my daughter I felt aweful everyday and to the last day! It was everything i lost 30 pounds with her i was sick! And i heard other women when they get pregnant and they are realy sick they know its a girl!

I think that this is just an old wives tale and has no basis in fact. I wish it was true though..things would sure be easier if I knew what this little one was.

Wow I've never heard that before. I can tell you that I have had 2 boys prior to this pregnancy and I never had morning sickness or really felt bad at all. I am now pregnant with boy #3 and still no morning sickness and not much to complain about this time either.

there is no way to determine the sex of the baby until the doctor tells you there are many old wives tales

I would say no. I was so sick in my first trimester, I'm having a girl. My sister is pregnant she was sick as well. She's having a boy. Everyone's body is different. My mother was NEVER sick she had 2 girls and 1 boy. My mom just kept saying to my sis and I "why are you too sick? I was never sick, I think it's all in your heads!" So everyone is different I guess! I say go with y our intuition. I KNEW I was having a girl from day one. I just felt it. And I am!

I will tell you it does not matter what you are carrying inside you it jest depends on how your body handles the situation. With my daughter i was sick and with my son i was extremely sick. I am now pregnant with my third child which is another boy and i was also sick with him in the beginning. So it just depends on your hormones. Good luck and either way it is worth it.

i was always told that your sicker with girls i myself have never had a girl but i was very sick with both my boys and from the other moms i know it just depends on the pregnancy not the gender
