Happen last Saturday night, ready to go to bed just laid down when I started to feel like a ton of brick on my chest, than I started to want to hyperventilate. My nose is stuffy because of the pregnancy so it made the felling of not being able to breath almost unbearable. Couldn`t sleep, just total panic. Anybody experience that before?? I never at that happening and this is my fourth child. Any suggestion would be welcome.

The effects of stress during pregnancy can cause an anxiety attack. During pregnancy it is important to relax. Even if you have never experienced an anxiety attack before, all of the things going on during pregnancy can bring one on. The thoughts of how you are going to care for this baby, work, other children, life, etc. can trigger one. Try to relax and only do what you absolutely have to do! Try to de-stress as much as possible! God Bless!

Stress causes anxiety/panic attacks. I had my first when my son was 4 weeks old and my Mother was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. That was 4yrs ago and I still have them, the feelings of having to escape, can't breathe, heart pounding or racing, sweating, scared to death about something but don't know what, feeling something bad is wrong, feeling like your going to die or somethings just not right. I have at least 2 a month, they last anywhere from 10mins to a few days for me. I usualy ball up in fetal position and take deep breaths sometimes that helps but other times I just have to wait it out. You can try reading a book, watching a movie or doing anything to get your mind off that will help. good luck!

I had one of these a couple of months ago and had no idea what was wrong with me. It felt like I had to try so hard to breathe and like my heart was going to pound right out of my chest. I guess it's not uncommon for women to experience this during pregnancy, I'm not sure what causes it.

Hi, i had one of those last week but it just continued on for hours. I would calm down then again it would start. At first I drank water and that helped. I have no idea why but it helped calm me down. this is also the first time i had that experience. It prolly is cuz you were worried about something or a bit stressed and finaly your body gave in. Good luck!

Kinda had the same thing. I was sleeping and all of a sudden I wole up and felt like someone was holding a pillow over my face. Panicked a little, sat up, took a deep breath and was ok, but it was soooo weird. And I have been stuffed up my whole pregnancy...will it ever end...lol!

I've had an anxiety attack before but not during this pregnancy. I had one when I was in the hospital for a m/c. Felt like I was going crazy and I couldnt breathe right. Kinda felt like I was dying or something and all of a sudden I had to pee really bad. I looked it up on the net and it said alot of times ppl who have a panic attack they have to use the restroom right after. Have you been worrying alot? That causes anxiety too.

i can relate - don't be too concerned as so much is going on inside. if the attacks continue to happen consult your dr. also, keep yourself readily available for help. don't lock the door when you potty, have a phone handy at all times etc. panic attack are not uncommon, however don't totally negate your feelings as anxiety symptoms potentially mask more serious ones. i had an attack a few wks back that took my breath away, my vision became impaired and i started crying hysterically. i sat on the couch and just kept panting and eventually my breath returned to normal. btw this is my fourth child too.
