If I`m trying to produce more milk, is pumping every hour going to hurt or help my situation? I`ve heard that I should pump every 2 hours but that`s not working as fast as I would like.

Melanie07 - 91 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Pumping more often does produce more milk. Also, drink plenty of fluids. Try alternating pumping ans nursing. I f you can try pumping on one breast while nursing from the other. Pumping while nursing produces more milk. It is a little hard at first until you get the hang of it. If you have a boppy it helps a lot.

lindamc - 95 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If anything it will give you more milk!

mommauv4 - 97 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Pumping more often will increase your milk supply. Milk is made on a supply and demand basis.

kelsul - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) any pumping hurts ;) my daughter never latched..so i pumped for 4 months straight, anytime i wanted to increase my supply i would add extra pumpings for a few days and my food intake. but most everyday i pumped every 2 hours. to increase i did every hour. good luck. it's not easy, but worth it.

LMO - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) when you first start you wont produce alot of milk but then you will. if you are still not producing ask the doctor and they can prescribe you something to help

kayleighrobo - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) at first it takes a while wat i would do is pump and then breastfeed every hour to get your body use to making more milk and then eventually you can stop breastfeeding if you wanted too if it still doesnt get better i would talk to your docter or midwife x

Baby3OnWay - 100 days ago Rating: 5 (2 votes) you should see if there are lactation nurses you can talk to in your area.. where i am from they make house calls once in awhile and there a clinic on every block I swear. i think the amount of time between pumping and feeding also has a lot to do with how long you have been breastfeeding for. I found that when I was breastfeeding and pumping that the best time for me to pump and gain more milk lfow was first thing in the morning. I would pump one breast as much as possble and feed with the other..then do the opposite boob to feed at night and pump the other... hope this helps but to see about lactation nurses and consultant in your area they are wonderful!!! Good Luck and happy nursing!

mommy-of-3 - 100 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think pumping at regular intervals along with breastfeeding will do the job. If in doubt ask your doctor for suggestions though.

brandi j. - 100 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Pumping will help as long as you are also breastfeeding for a good amount of time, every 2-3 hours! Pumping alone will not do enough for your milk supply. There are also natural teas and supplements that you can buy that will help you to increase your supply! Best of luck to you and congrats on your baby and your decision to breastfeed!
