Ive read and heard alot about dropping the 2 o`colock feed during the night. I am breastfeeding, and my baby is 10 weeks old. How do I drop the 2am feed? Or will she just drop it by herself?

Your baby will drop it when she is ready. If she starts to wake up at that time, don't rush to her. See if she goes back to sleep. If she does than she doesn't need the feeding. If not then try again the next night.

If the baby needs the feed she will wake for it, breast fed babies feed on demand.... my wee lady is a hungry baby and although i am giving her solids now she would still feed from me every few hours if im lucky. Good luck x

Maybe try waking her up right before you go to bed to feed her or try waking up to feed her at 12:30am. She may sleep right past the 2 am mark.

Breastfed babies need to eat more than those on formula, she'll probably learn to drop it on her own when she gets a bit older and sleeping more thru the night.

As your baby is only 10 weeks she will still need her middle of the night feeds. Maybe you could feed her before you go to bed so she will sleep for longer. Thats something I did with my 1st child and it worked for me.

Breastfeed babies need to eat more frequently and it often takes longer before they sleep through the night. Well into my daughters second month I added a little bit of baby cereal to breast milk and feed it to her in a bottle right before bed. She started sleeping through the night after this. That was a personal call because this is technically to early to start a baby on cereal.

She'll drop it on her own. Let her do her thing.

My little girl dropped it herself, breast feeding is generally an on demand thing therefore go with the flow, let her dictate nightfeeds. Hopefully she'll be sleeping through soon.

I have breastfed my last 3 babies, and I always let them chose their "schedule", b/c they know best when they are hungry. I suggest that you co-sleep, if you are not opposed, and that way your baby can nurse and you can get your well needed sleep! This is what I do! God Bless!

There is a book called The Secrets of The Baby Whisperer by Tracy Hogg, she explains how to do this yourself and she only recommends it as long as your baby is over 10 pounds. She says that if your baby wakes up in the night and doesn't feed for long but basically feeds to fall back to sleep to stick a soother in your baby's mouth the first night he wakes up and he will suck it until he falls asleep. The next night if he wakes up do the same thing and he should suck it for not as long as the first night and then the third night if he wakes up do the same thing and it won't take as long for him to fall asleep and by the 4th day he shouldn't even wake up because he isn't wanting the few calories that he used to be waking up for. If you read the book she explains it a lot better than I can

breastfed babies tend to drop their own feeds, my daughter was about 3 mths when she dropped her 2am feed, she is 6 mths now but still wakes 4 a feed around 5/6

this is a hard one.. your baby is still really little. i wouldnt drop it till about 6 months. if waking up a lot is really kickin you in the butt then maybe try to give your baby and extra ounce right before bed and maybe she will drop the 2am feeding. as of right now she is waking up cuz shes hungry. but once shes about 4months its more of a habit. thats why i say wait. good luck

I wouldn't do that just yet, at 10 weeks your baby needs that middle of the night feeding.

Breastfed babies tend to need the middle of the night feedings until about 4-5 months, of course there are some who sleep through the night. I bf all my kids and none slept through the night until at least 5month.My baby is almost 4months goes to bed around 9:30 wakes between 3:30-5am for a quick feed and back to bed till about 7am.
