I have a 4 yr old son in a booster seat and a new born due anyday. My son sits by the window, so do I put my newborns car seat in the middle or by the other window?

asutori - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) So it looks like there is much debate about the center vs. window seat... Here is info I pulled from ConsumerReports which is a trusted and unbiased source: "Position the seat. As we've mentioned, the center rear seat is the safest spot. You may have to place the seat next to a door if you have more than one small child; if there isn't a shoulder belt in the center (for use with a booster seat); if your LATCH-compatible vehicle lacks lower anchors in the center rear position and you don't want to use the center-seat vehicle belt; or if using the center rear seat would make the child seat unstable, among other reasons." LATCH refers to the childseat locking system that many new cars have. Hope this helps!

mzmommy2b - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would suggest by the other window, only so that the toddler cannot hit or touch the NB

kayla-love - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have a 4 year old as well, and he is on one side of the window at the back, and my baby is the other side of the window. My baby has a Graco car seat and it says to put them behind the car seat.

christen - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i have always been told to put them in the middle of the back seat....for the main fact that if you have a wreck and that carseat hits the back of the seat hard enough...it could break and cause serious injuries to your child

LMO - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) its not as safe to put them in the middle. i would put the baby behind the passenger seat so that if you are driving you can see them!

kathleen - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i put our daughter nexts to the other window while our son is behind the drivers seat

mandie - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i have def heard middle is best for baby

araya-sunshine - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It depends. If both car seats will fit right next to each other then you should put the newborn in the middle. For one, rear facing carseats often need more room and will not fit behind the front seats. Also, if a 4 yr old and a newborn recieve the same injury the 4 yr old will likely recover from the injury better and faster. For that reason you should put the baby in the middle at least until he/she is big enough for a forward facing carseat.

candace3 - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You shouldn't put the baby in the middle if the seat belt is adjustable, like if it is just a lapbelt that adjusts through the buckle. I have read that in a high impact crash the belt can come loose.

Baby3OnWay - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have my 28 month old daughter at one window and my 5 month old son at the other window. My first born was in the middle in the beginning, once there was another I felt the seperation as a small baby was better then having my daughter touching and poking him all the time.

wildberry - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i think that the deciding factor for me was the fact that my four year old loves his baby brother so much he can't keep his hands off him so i have one on my side and the other on dads side it works well

kater - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i think that it is far easier to get bub out of the car if they are in a window seat, especially when they are new, and you are trying to get them out of the car without waking them

klasnaya - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I say in the middle. Its safer. If your son wont poke the baby or anything then definatly i would keep the baby in the middle!

captshelley - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) other window

michaela - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would put the newborn at the other window, that way your 4 year old can't poke or prod the baby easily, also i think catching glimpses of the outside world keeps babies amused. Admittley my car's middle seat doesn't have a safe harness so i wouldn't have any choice in the matter, check your car manual to be safe.

Mommyof2boys - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They say the safest is in the back of course and in the middle.

mommy-of-3 - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I always put the baby in the middle, I believe that is the safest place.

njstewy - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would look in your car handbook. . my car doesn't really have a sturdy middle seat so I have to place the car seat behind my seat. .but most car manuals will show how to set up with the safest avaible

brandi j. - 99 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) Since you will only have the two children then it is really up to where you feel the baby will be safest. It will most likely be easiest for you to get the baby out if he/she is next to the other window. I think that the safest place for the baby is in the middle though.

mattie4 - 99 days ago Rating: 4 (1 votes) in the middle is the best spot for the new baby if both car seats fit that way. You can even get your son in on helping with the baby and make him feel more involved while he is sitting so close :).

dvsrunt - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My girlfriend has her baby seat in the middle and it's a huge pain to get to the baby or put in my daughter's booster if we go somewhere. I would recommend putting the baby behind the passenger seat so you can get to her/him if need be and that way you have a little room between siblings too!! LOL

leahs - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have a 3yr old in a booster seat by the passenger side window and my 4mo old in the infant seat in the middle, I did this because I also have a 10yr old that I make sit in the back of the vehicle (safer) and it's too hard to make him sit in the middle,on the rare occasion that he is not in the car with the 2 younger kids I will move the infant seat to the other side to make sure the older one isn't poking or hurting the baby.

Christina1984 - 99 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) well my 3 yr old sits by the one window behind me, so i figured i would put the baby by the other window were i can see the baby. also im afraid that my daughter being 3 may decide to stick things in with the baby while im driving.
