Hello, im from the UK and kinda feel that I am a little behind most people around 9 weeks, I have only had one appointment with my doctor to confirm the pregnancy and to have the blood tests etc, my midwife called me on the 4th saying she will be on holiday for 2 weeks and that a midwife from the hospital will be contacting me, well its nearly 2 weeks since I spoke with her, and I have heard nothing yet! Is this normal, should I be worried, don’t want to call and make a fuss encase this is the normal time scales!

I didn't get in to my doc until almost 12 weeks. You can call and see what the hold up is. It is your body. If you are worried, let them know.

This is very normal! I am always told, that no news is good news! If you are concerned, then I suggest you call, there is nothing wrong w/ doing that. Congrats to you on your pregnancy!

I think you're fine! I'm almost 21 weeks and just now had my blood work done, so consider yourself a bit ahead! Good luck!

It's very normal to not have an official appointment until later on. My doctor in the USA doesn't see women with normal healthy pregnancies until 12 weeks. I hated this, as I wanted to get the ball rolling, but it comes really quick!

You are fine. I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 9 weeks and that was my first check-up. Then, they didnt schedule me for another app until 12 weeks. That is the normal week in which the OB-GYN will start doing tests... etc.. after the first trimester

I think you're okay. I had my first doc appt at 8 wks (in USA) but I've heard it's common to wait until 10 wks. Just make sure you're getting plenty of rest and fluids, and don't overdo any exercise. Besides, if there was a problem at this stage, there's not really anything the doctor can do about it, right?

there no problems in calling. Just say you were calling to inquire about the midwife who was taking over for yours. If they have no info yet, no biggie. I am 17weeks now and haven't been to my Dr sinc 13.5weeks and wont see mine until about 20 weeks as he was gone. Its ok, but i would call someone if you noticed any problems or concerns you feel you need to be discussed or looked at! Hope this helps!

when i was pregnant with my first son my irst appointment wasnt until 9 weeks then your following isnt for another 4 weeks and so on until you are 32 weeks then its every two then at 36 weeks its every week. so it is normal that you have only been seen once. but if you continue to worry just call your midwife, its your first baby and they understand all the questions. i have a midwife also. good luck

yeah i would not worry about it. they will properly send u a letter in the next's wk or so for your scan appointment where they will do more blood test and wee sample, weight, baby's heartbeat ect... then they will see u around every 4 wks till nearer your due date when it goes to every 2 wks then a every wk. if u go over they will send out another letter with a induce date.

In the uk they take a lot more of a relaxed approach, I saw my gp at 7 weeks to confirm everything, he referred me to the hospital for first scan @ 12 weeks and from then i was seen monthly by midwife until 32 weeks. Unless you have complications, in which case they will see you more. I was only seen at the hospital routinely 3 times 12 weeks, 20 weeks(big scan) and 34 weeks (approx delivery weight). i did have an emergency scan at 8 weeks and 17 weeks as i had severe abdominal pain. So it sounds like your dr is followng the norm. don't worry. All the best, good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. xxx
