I went for my 38 week check up today and my doctor told me that I was 1cm and had a soft but thick cervix. .I asked him what he thought that what my baby weighted and he guess 5 1/2 to 6 lbs and then asked me when I had my last ultrasound. (never told me the heart beat which he always did) and scheled an ultrasound before next appt. for fetal weight and I was wondering if I should be concerend cause he doesn`t order an ultrasound unless needed.

Melanie07 - 106 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They do ultrasounds towards the end to check baby's position. They also check the size and water level. I would not worry.

LMO - 107 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i wouldnt worry about it because most doctors dont order ultra sounds all the time

selenia - 109 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i wouldnt be worried, if there was something wrong your doctor would of said something to you.

ttasha - 109 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i wouldnt be its just to check the baby is alright in there

Mommyof2boys - 111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Probably wanting to check on the babies weight. 38 weeks is fine going into labor they say its normal to go into labor 2 weeks early up to 2 weeks late. I wouldn't worry. The ultrasound will give the doctor reassurance the baby is good on his/her weight.

pregnantegyptian - 111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't think so but they probably just want to check and see if the baby's weight is normal.

Baby3OnWay - 111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had so many ultrasounds with my pregnancies I couldn't tell you when is good or not. I am sure he just wants to make sure that your baby is growing at a good rate, 34 weeks sounds abou the time I had my last one with my last two children though... I'm sure its just routine to check the growth. I was 4cm and 100% effeced at 36weeks and and stayed that way for two weeks, then they broke my water... not much longer to go my dear GOOD LUCK!

jessicahedden - 111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I wouldn't be concerned. Just enjoy having another look at your baby before s/he is born. :)

mattie4 - 111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) well atleast take comfort in the fact that your dr is checking things out. I would try not to worry, like someone else said it isnt uncommon to do an ultrasound to check the weight. As far as the heartbeat, he probably just forgot, thats common too :). Take comfort in the fact that you are already 38 weeks and having a baby born at that time is a ok. :)

wildberry - 111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) don't worry if he was very concerned he would have gotten you in today he probable just forgot to get the hare beat

michaela - 112 days ago Rating: 4 (1 votes) No don't worry, they normally do an ultrasound to get an approx. weight cause they will bring you in earlier if the baby is big. i have a friend who's baby at 34 weeks already weighed 6lbs so they are gonna induce her at 37 weeks if she hasn't already gone herself! like youself this is her first baby so they want to make it possible for her to deliver naturally. You'll befine and don't worry about your dr. All the best. xx

Leahsoon2bemom - 112 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) A baby born at 38 weeks is completly healthy! He is probably just doing the ultrasound to confirm that your baby is the correct size and weight to be ok if born. If this is your first child a lot of first children are born at 38 weeks! Nothing to be worried about but when he does your ultra sound ask him questions like this that you are concerned about! that's what he's getting payed for! Hope all is well

kelsul - 112 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) no need to worry. lots of doctors check on the baby if they think the size of the baby is less or greater than the date. i hvae had 2 in the past week :) everything is normal. good luck. just think, you will get more pics and get to see that baby one more time before you give birth :)

Brandi J. - 112 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) Try not to worry! Did he tell you your fundal height? My fundal height stops increasing around the 25th week for me, and my doctor always does an u/s to make sure my baby is growing, which my babies have always been right on target! He says that my uterus tilts back so that is why it appears that it stops growing, this is my normal, so it may be your too.

jamfam - 112 days ago Rating: 3 (2 votes) Hi, I think that you should put in a call to the doctor and tell him your concerns and tell him you were a little worried. My doctor just did a weight check ultrasound on me and I am 30 weeks. Worry isn't good for you so call them so your not sitting around wondering and waiting until the ultrasound and ask them if you can come in and hear the heartbeat it only takes a few mins. Blessings to you.

mommy-of-3 - 112 days ago Rating: 4 (1 votes) I wouldn't worry yourself, I'm sure if there was something wrong the doctor would have told you. My guess is they just want to see where you're at being that you are going to be delivering soon.

Laura Ward - 112 days ago Rating: 4 (1 votes) I would not be concerned. Usually if there was a problem, your doctor would tell you if they were concerned. More than likely, your doctor just wants to double check the size of your baby before delivery. Were you measuring larger than you are actually are? Try not to worry! Best wishes.

babigirl82 - 112 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) It is not something to be extremely concerned about, it is normal to want to get a weight before delivery. I think he would tell you if he thought something was wrong.
