I recently got diagnosed with gestational diabetes and its freaking me out, have any of you ever had it? and did your baby be born ok?

Melanie07 - 171 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had it with my first. They put you on a strict diet. My baby was fine. She was just big. I had to eat at certain times a day and eat certain amounts of certain foods. Some food were off limits. I did not have it with my other two.

LMO - 172 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my bestfriend had it and when she had the baby she was fine and so was the baby

piggycindy - 172 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my cousin had it, and her baby is healthy. The only thing you really need to watch out is what you eat. She can't eat a lot of the stuff she wants to eat. So talk to your doctor and they should refer you to specialist that will help you

ttasha - 174 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i heard you should drink plenty of fluids

jcnkc - 175 days ago Thank you to all of you who responded! I feel a lot better and you have been very helpful!

Brandi J. - 176 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have not personally had this, but I found this site to be very inforative. Hope it helps http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/gestational/index.htm

Mommyof2boys - 176 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've never had it but I heard you should stay very hydrated drinking lots of water and watch the bread and sugar intake and do as your doctor tells you. I've known lots of ladies who have had GD and delivered happy and healthy babies.

slnkl - 176 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i had gestional diabetes with this child... she was fine! a little on the chunky side, but hey, that's what makes her cute! ;)

Baby3OnWay - 176 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Had it last pregnancy and my baby is fine! No worries, good luck

ibudoris - 176 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My sister in law had it with her last baby, and he was born just fine, just turned 1, and is the cutest little boy ever! She just had to be careful with what she ate, and keep regular contact with her doctor. Don't worry it happens to lots of people. God Bless.

michaela - 176 days ago Rating: 5 (2 votes) I haven't personally had it but do know a little, your baby will be fine, are you gonna be controlled by diet, tablets or insulin shots? You need to be extremely strict with yourself regarding what you eat, expect to have a big baby and if you are concerned about diet/baby don't hesitate to ask your dr, or ask to see a dietician or diabetes specialist nurse for advice. You will be monitored closely and will probably have blood drawn regularly. You'll be fine as long as you follow the plan your dr sets up for you. All the best. xx

kbushby - 176 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) i have gestational diabetes. i had it with my first child also(he was 7lbs 8oz). theres nothing to worry about if you take care of it. it can cause underdeveloped lungs, or a really big baby and they can get diabetes in the future. but i wouldnt worry if you keep your sugars low and eat whats appropriate. just talk to your doctor and ask them to hook you up with a person where you live that knows what you can and cant eat.

Laura Ward - 176 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Try not to worry. My friend had gestational diabetes and her children are beuatiful and healthy. She did have to take her blood sugar throughout the day and watch the amount of sugar and carbs that she ate. Other than that, she had a very healthy pregnancy. Her son was born large-10 lb 10 oz, so she did need a cesarean section. A large baby is a typical symptom that is associated with gestational diabetes, but is usually not a huge cause for concern. You will probably be monitored closer and will probably have a few extra ultrasounds to check for the size of the baby as your due date draws closer. Listen to what your doctor says and everything should be just fine! Happy pregnancy!

MelissaJoanne - 176 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) A good friend of mine had this during both her pregnancies, and she and her children are all well. It went away after pregnancy. Take care, eat what dr. tells you, you and baby will be fine.

captshelley - 176 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My best friend has gestational diabetes and has had 2 perfectly healthy baby girls. One is 4 years old and the other is 4 months. Perfect, loving, outgoing, sweet and beautiful. Don't worry, you and your baby will be great.

mommy-of-3 - 176 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) Relax, as long as you follow doctor's orders you and your baby will be just fine. I have also heard that gestastional diabetes usually goes away after you have the baby so no worries you just have to watch what you eat for a little while and take care of yourself. :)
