Just curious what the doctors say about exercise during pregnancy.

LMO - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) exercise is get just dont hurt yourself

kathleen - 97 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) as long as u don't over do it, u should be ok. and drink lots of water

gigimuffin1 - 97 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doctor said to just be careful and to listen to my body. ( obviously if it exhausts me or I have pain- stop) The big thing was to stay hydrated.

kater - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) if you are healthy and fit before getting pregnant, it is safe to continue to do -most- exercise. dont do anything that leaves you feeling breathless or faint, dont do situps or any exercises that requires you to lay on your back. if you were not fir before the pregnancy, you will defiantly need to speak with your health provider about what is safe.

ibudoris - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It depends on the doctor, on your physical condition before you got pregnant, and how consistent you are in exercising throughout your pregnancy. When I got pregnant with my son (who will be 3 next month) I was about to run a marathon and had been training for months. I was in great shape and didn't stop running just because I found out I was pregnant, besides I had been running through the 1st 7 or so weeks of my pregnancy before I found out anyway! Through out my pregnancy I ran 5days a week swam 2days a week, and did aerobics 2days a week. Two days before he was born I ran a mile in 10minutes because I was trying to go into labor, but was unsuccessful! There were 5 doctors in the practice that I went to. Three were against my running and two were for it. Ultimately I had a very healthy baby, and I recovered in record time (1 week) from an emergency c-section because my body was very strong and in good shape. The one thing you must be careful of however is that if you exercise a lot in the 1st trimester, you are going to have to keep it up throughout your pregnancy unless you want a huge baby! The reason is that with extreme exercise in the 1st trimester you develop a much larger placenta for baby and your blood volume becomes much higher than normal, so baby is getting all kinds of fuel. When you work out, in some senses so does baby. If you stop so does baby, but baby doesn't slow it's intake down. The other thing is cool down every 10 to 15 minutes so you don't overheat, very unhealthy for baby. When my son was born he was 9lbs 3oz and very strong. He held his head on his own two days after birth. He is still very healthy and active. He crawled at 3 1/2 months, walked at 7 months, and was running at 9 months. And curiously enough he loves to run! On the other hand, with my daughter I didn't run at all during my pregnancy, my son was 8 months old when I got pregnant again so I was busy looking after him, and just stuck to walking. When my daughter was born v-bac it actually took me much longer to recover, she was much smaller but still healthy. She is 1 1/2 now. I am pregnant with our 3rd now and this time around I am walking and swimming, and looking after 2 toddlers (a workout in itself!) That's my experience for what it's worth, but the bottom line is every doctor is going to have a different opinion on the matter. And there are lots of experts either way. You need to do what you feel comfortable with as long as you are healthy. Listen to the doctors, but sometimes take them with a grain of salt. Remember they are there to help you have the kind of pregnancy and delivery that you want to have, not the other way around. They work for you.
