Hyland's Teething tablets are the best. My older two also liked chewing on frozen bananas or frozen a washcloth. I would cut a banana in half and stick it on a popcycle maker holder. I would wrap wax paper on it and freeze it.

For teething im giving my baby water teething rings - i rub calgel on her gums but i think she prefers to bit down hard on my hand. You can also use ashton & parsons teething powder.... just have a look at how many months the gel is for when choosing it.

I had what we call a Boo-Boo Bunny at my house. We starting to make them ourselves, when our older two were in elementary school for when they got hurt. We obviously use brand new faceclothes for the baby, bc otherwise it would be just plain gross.
1) We took a facecloth, 2)wrapped them into what looked like snakes, 3)twisted them into circles around a couple of fingers, so that there was about an inch of overlap at each of the ends 4)folded back the overlap 5)sewed a the folded back part, so that it made the shape of a head, with two bunny ears. * For the kids, we bought dollar store mini cotton balls, ribbon and mini googly eyes to turn them into bunnies. When the kids got hurt, the circle from where your fingers were is a great place and size to hold an ice cube. **When we did them for the baby, We didn't add anything to decorate them. Since we didn't want her to chock, we opted to dipped them in sterilised water. We then wrung them out and place them in baggies in the freezer. They are cute, and my baby loved them. We made ten I think and always washed them with only bibs (for obvious reasons) and that was probably a good idea, bc we never ran out. We didn't need to worry about what chemicals she might ingest if one of the teethers broke down. We only used ambesol or orajel (spelling for both?) once or twice bc she absolutely hated it. Who doesn't love bunnies! Oh, I just looked for a link so that you could see what I mean. You're in luck!

I didn't do any of the over the counter methods with my son. It was either the flat fleshy side of my palm or a cold wash cloth wrapped over one of my fingers for him to gum on. He didn't want those freezer rings or anything else. It had to be a knuckle, my palm or the cold washcloth...

I tried so many of the over the counter products to no avail. Then one day I gave my son a plastic measureing cup while I was in the kitchen. He started chewing on it and BLAM--no more crying. Call me a wierdo, but safe rounded kitchen items saved me!

I tried several different things. FIrst of all, I did NOT like orajel or other similar baby teething gels. They are so temporary can also numb the baby's throat and cause them to choke (even on formula, breast milk and saliva) Instead, we used homeopathic teething tablets that we purchased from Walgreens. The tablets worked wonderfully and there were like 105 in the bottle for less than $5. Also, neither of my kids liked the teething toys that you freeze. We used a teething blanket (bought at KMart) and also cold washclothes. I also gave them Tylenol if they seemed really uncomfortable. Good luck. Teething can be so hard--on both the baby and the paretns!

I know this is weird but our daughter loved to gum on a big chunk of beef jerkey while teething. She loved the taste but couldnt actually bite anything off. We also used the teething tablets that you can get at any pharmacy. They desolve and help ease the pain. Good luck!

Just gave them medicine like tylenol or tempra depending on age... the gels and ring never did much. It is not fair to let them suffer the pain, I say that as my kids teethed in multiples... I also tried to give only when going to bed as that was at it's worst.

I did the wash cloth thing described below, teethers, tylenol and st times I would use one of the infant finger tooth brushes and put some orajel on it and brush my daughters gums where the teeth were possibly coming through! Hope this helps and hope its not TOO bad for you! Take care!

I would put a damp wash cloth in the freezer for a while and give it to them to chew on, also I would stick a carrot stick in there for a while and let it get cold and he loved that too.

My babies did not like to bite on things when they were teething, so I used tylenol, and when they were old enough I alternated tylenol and motrin. If your baby likes to chew while teething, then there are lots of teething toys that you could choose from.

I bought the baby orajel and also let him chew on cold wet washcloths and freezie pops that weren't opened (just frozen.)It's kind of a trial and error thing, every baby is going to react differently you just have to see what works for you.
