Today the skin on one of my aureoles is dry and flaky. I have never had this (I`m almost 25weeks) has anyone else experienced this and do you have any idea why it might be happenening?

LMO - 92 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it is normal they are getting bigger so they are getting dry put lotion on them

mrsbotti07 - 93 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is very normal. Your areolas are growing bigger and at a faster rate than usual. They are getting dry and flaky. You can use lanolin or vaseline on them. I have been experiencing this since week 15, I am now in week 17

lindamc - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would start using lanolin... it really works well!

crystalmooon - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I heard somewhere that shea butter is good for dry, itchy nipples - but I've never tried it personally.

deborah86 - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've never had that before but I've been leaking since 5 months and I let some of it every night air dry on my nipples. I've also since then bought some lanolin cream to put on it as well. Good luck and congrats!

Laura Ward - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) That is normal. If you have been leaking anything from your breasts, they could be getting dry. Now is the time to start getting your nipples and areolas ready for after baby. Go ahead and buy some lanolin cream and apply it on there a few times a day. It will help with any possible cracking that will happen after delivery. Good luck~

Cindie - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it's normal... but I have a skin problem where my skin all over is ALWAYS dry and flakey.. I can only say that it's been worse since I got pregnant.

gr8scottswife - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I experienced this three days ago, and I am 16 weeks.

Carmione - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have it too here and there. I asked my dr about this. When the skin on the nipple area loses it's ability to hold the oil secreted by the Montgomery's tubercles- it just sloughs off like any other skin on your body. There's nothing to be concerned about. Don't pick at it as it can cause a crack and you don't want a little skin infection in this area- they aren't fun. Just moisturize as you normally would, or it is becomes too much a little cocoa butter or lanolin should do the trick. I found that when I stopped using deodorant soap on my breasts, the dryness seemed to have stopped. Hope this helps-

mommy-of-3 - 94 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) I have this too, I'm not sure what causes it but I do know that it's normal and nothing to be concerned about.

ttasha - 94 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) the best thing to do is use vaseline or nipple cream

Baby3OnWay - 95 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It happened to me and since i had some nipple cream from my last pregnancy, stuff I used when breastfeeding, I put that on and it seemed to go away with that! Its normal!

jessicadarling - 95 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I asked my doctor the same thing when I was pregnant because the skin on my areolas and nipples would get dry and flaky. It wouldn't be painful, just dry. My doctor said it was completely normal and not to worry about it. She said it would go away. It did go away and hasn't affected my breastfeeding at all

captshelley - 95 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) your aureoles will get darker and bigger. Them getting bigger is what makes your skin dry and flaky maybe itchy too. Experts say they get darker and bigger so your baby can find them. My baby can't find my nipples to this day.

JennSever - 95 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) your skin all over your body is going to under go many changes..my best advice for breast care is to leave them alone. if you start putting anything on them your risking infection or irritation. when you nurse its ok to use lansinoh cream, but thats about it. you also might start to notice little 'crusties" but again leave yourself alone - its all apart of breast changes that are going to occur. oh and as for your dignity..its all out the window honey!
