I was hungrier after birth -I was breast feeding and needed the extra calories. At first I could eat lots and still lose weight but this shifted once I introduced solids.

I'm not in the same position, I've not been eating as much as I probably should be. I have a friend though who seemed to get cravings when she was bf'ding.

YEs. This is very common. If you are breast feeding you need to eat a little more that normal to continue to produce milk for your little one.

Yes sounds like me with both my previous kids. I lost 14 pounds with my first pregnancy and 30 pounds with my second. BUT after i had my first baby i couldnt stop eating and gained like 20 - 30 pounds! then lost it with second baby. After i had her i was so skinney but again i gained it all back and now im pregnant with baby #3 and lost 18 pounds lol. But this time i will try to be careful about eating so much cuz i know the effects! lol

ravenous...with the stomach not having added pressure on it, it's able to relax back into it's normal place and the result is it returning to close to what the capacity was prior to your getting pregnant.

:)- MORE ROOM! Baby moved out. I was eating subway at 2am on my 2nd night in the hospital. Once i was given the green light to eat, I was starving! Not eating for nearly 24hours due to labour and surgery definately made me hungry, but breastfeeding does as well! Just make sure what you are fuelling yourself with is healthy!

Absolutely, I am also very thirsty after having a baby, this is due to the fact that I am nursing and my body needs the energy! Are you breastfeeding? If not, you may just be that your body is using that extra energy for healing! Congrats on your baby!

I know that before I got pregnant I could eat alot, and now I can hardly eat 1/2 that amount. I'm suprised I'm not losing weight. but I've been this way since day 1 and I'm only 19w.

Yes, I did because I was nursing--which seems to make most women hungry and thirsty. Also, now that your organs are not being squished together with a baby growing, you have more room in your stomach for food.

well the pressure of the baby is no longer on your tummy, so the feeling of full is gone. Also, if you are breastfeeding...well your body requires alot more calories to sustain you and your baby as well. Another thing to take in consideration, your body is healing, it lost blood during the delivery and now it needs more fuel to build that back up :). Make sure you eat as often as your body tells you that you need to. Make healthy choices though :)

Right after I gave birth I was STARVING!!!! I think my stomach was even growling lol. With my first I had woke up at 6am out of my sleep with contractions and didn't have anything to eat until 3:00pm when I delivered.

well now that the baby is out, there is no more pressure on your belly, so you do not feel as full as you did before giving birth. congrats on your baby :)
