No they don't induce you for strep b, they just give you an antibiotic right before you deliver.

I doubt it, they should start you on a course of antibiotics to treat the urine infection and will give you some during your labour to protect the baby. You will need to do most of your labour at the hospital so they can get as many doses of antibiotics into your bloodstream so baby has adequate cover. Hope this helps and good luck. xx

i had strep b and they didnt induce me because of it. but once you have any signs of labor they will want you to go in right away to get your first dose of meds cuz they have to wait a certain amount of time till they give you the second dose. so you may not really be able to labor at home for long if you wanted to do that.

You do not have to be induced, however, some doctors will recommend it, b/c they want to make sure you recieve the full 2 doses(at least) of antibiotics during labor. However, I have tested positive w/ all 4 of my other pregnancies, and haven't ever recieved the full 2 doses w/ any of them. I have only been induced w/ #3, I was supposed to have been induced w/ #1, and #2, but did not make it to 39 weeks, and my doc. would not induce before that time. W/ #4, I opted out of being induced, I would not have made it to 39 weeks w/ her either. I asked about laboring at home, since I only lived 2 min. from the hospital, so I was given a prescription antibiotic to take when labor started. However, by the time I knew that labor had started, I took the 1st antibiotic, and she was born 50 min. later, so that antibiotic didn't have time to work. I tell you this, b/c even though I haven't ever recieved all of the antibiotics that they want the laboring mother to get, none of my babies have ever contracted GBS. It is not something that happens very often, but it is best to try to get the antibiotics, I just don't labor long enough to get them all. So, if you are afraid that you will not get to the hospital in time to get the antibiotics, then you may want to be induced, or you may want to ask for a prescription of some you can take orally. The only difference is that IV antibiotics gets into your system quicker.

No the just give you antibiotics so that the infection isn't passed on to the baby during delivery. I know a few moms who had it in their IV during a vag birth. Good Luck and not to worry as its common

No, strep b infection wont cause a doctor to induce you. I had the strep b infection with my first pregnancy and had two doses of antibiotics in my IV line before my son was born.

You won't be induced just because you have strep b, but your doc will ask you to come to the hospital as soon as labor starts so they can start you on antibiotics. The only way you would be induced due to group b strep is if you have a history of very fast labors.
