I got a scan done this morning and the tech told me my baby was measuring a week ahead. What does that mean?

If you're certain that the conception/ due date is correct, then that's a big baby. :-)

It sounds like your carrying a big baby... although my dates didnt change when they thought i was a couple of days behind dates normally dont change unless your baby is way bigger than what it should be - like a couple of weeks.

It either means that your a week further along than you thought, or your baby is just growing faster and may be a big baby. I found out the same thing at my u/s, nothing to worry about, you're growing a healthy baby! :-)

It just means your baby may be a little bigger than the average. It could also just be they measurement take that day. It can vary a week or two one way or the other. All mine measured a week or two ahead. All mine were big babies born around twoo weeks early. 1st was 8lbs, 12 ozs. 10 days early. 2nd was 8lbs 2 ozs. 16 days early. 3rd was 9 lbs. 10.2 ozs. 14 days early.

it is normal that you can measure 2 weeks ahead or behind of what was originally said

From what I learned from my Dr when pregnant, It is perfectly normal to measure 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after. There is always a possibility that they can be off on your due date by 1 or 2 weeks.

there is two possibility and 1 is that your baby might just be big or the measure your due day wrong the first time. There is nothing wrong with your baby.

your due date may have changed.. usually happens in the first few months, OR if its later in your pregnancy your baby could just be measuring bigger then the average! Nothing to worry about they said my baby was going to be approx. 10lbs at birth but he came out to be 7lbs 7oz

Nothing to worry about. They could have guessed your due date wrong or your baby is just developing a little faster.

it could simply mean you are a week ahead of your due date, it is very easy for this to happen, or it could possibly mean your baby is measuring and developing faster, there is no set rate. the scale in which drs and nurses use are based on average measurements so its only a rough guide. 7 days is not something 2 worry about

I've always been told I measured a week or two ahead, my kids were 8lbs 3oz and 7lb 15oz. I was just told I was measuring 2 weeks ahead with this one so I'm guessing he'll be another 8 pounder.

Nothing really, my son who is now a year measured just over 2weeks ahead, and my son who i am pregnant with now is measuring a week ahead. They are just bigger than usual, most doctors will do another scan before you deliver to make sure the baby is not to big. Just stay reassured that your baby is fine and he/she may just be a little chuncky and we all know just how cute chuncky babies are.. :) Good luck.

It means that your baby is just a little bigger than the average baby. Also, if your u/s tech was not very experienced he/she may have measured wrong. But either way, it is not a big deal at this stage of your pregnancy.

Honey at this point in pregnancy u/s can estimate a baby at a 10 day diffrence. Thats why its very accurate in the beggining mostly. It just means your baby might be a weeks bigger than their measurments. I had that with both babies they were pretty big but doc said u/s gets less accurate with each passing month. Good Luck!
