I found out I was pregnant a week ago, evidently I am still in my first trimester and was wondering what exercises were safe? I know that I can’t push to hard, but what exercises are available and how do I do them?

Plenty of walking - dont over do it. Swimming but be careful what stroke you decide to do.

Google pregnancy exercises. If you were exercising before you can still do the same ones. You will have to modify some as you grow.

If you buy the What to Expect When Expecting book or just google some other websites, you can easily find pregnancy exercises to do. There are lots, things you would never think of. Walking helps, too, as does some light yoga.

There is a lot of exercise you can do. I was out running around all the way until I was half way thru my second trimester. my doctor said the rule of thumb is that when you start feeling pain or really strong discomfort lay down and relax. I help my boyfriend remodel his place, and went camping. Now I am in my third trimester I am still traveling around. Ever since I am pregnant I can't sit down. I am always up doing something....

Here are a few that my Dr gave me when I was prego with my first: pushups against the wall when standing, feet flat on floor!(helps with leg cramps too) Sitting cross-legged do arm stretched, leg stretching like crocodile, kneel on floor with hands also on the floor and lower your head and raise your back, neck relaxers... sit straight up close your eyes and bring your ears to your shoulder as close and you can, also bring your chin to your cheast, pelvic tilts, KEGALS are great!!!, stand tall holding the back of a chair and grab your feet from behind you... walking is great, hand weights are great!!!. These are a few that I do and they make me feel so good the morning that I do this just take your time, don't over due it and dont try things that you couldn't do before! Good Luck hope this helps!

Exercise is great all during pregnancy unless your doctor says its a no no. Just make sure you take rest and drink lots of water and listen to you body if you are tired you need to rest.

They say the most important thing is to not start anything new while pregnant, especially in the first trimester. Which means if you were extremely active and fit, you could continue your activities that aren't rigorous and don't include major jostling or body contact (obviously the key is to keep your body and belly safe at all times). You also need to watch out for your heartbeat going over 140 as at that point, your baby and you are fighting for oxygen. Definitely some good suggestions that already came up would be walking, swimming, yoga, pilates if you did it before (mind you as you go along, all the positions have to be modified for pilates and yoga, so find a good instructor if needed). Walking is the #1 exercise though because it promotes blood stimulation from the pressure on your feet and the movement, and also helps to stimulate your whole body (through reflexology). Hope that helps!

Walking is great! Also, it depends on your fitness level as to whether you can do any others. Honestly, in the 1st trimester you probably won't feel like doing much if you are sick and/or tired, but in the 2nd trimester you should be able to do a toned down version of whatever exercises you are doing now. Swimming is also a very good exercise during pregnancy, b/c it does not strain your body, the water supports your weight, so this is very comfortable for most pregnant women. Congrats to you!

to be honest in the first trimester id lay off exercises just because of the risk of miscarrying is at its highest in the first trimester id just stick to walking alot.. until the risks goes down

walking is great, yoga or similar flexibility/stretching programs are really beneficial, and you should be able to find a class specifically for preggos.

They always tell you walking is like the number one excercise because it's good for the whole body and you can do it through the entire pregnancy.
