Aspirin in Pregnancy Added: 1393 days ago. Added by: minkymoo78 Section: Trying to conceive. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
I have a big dilema. I had a miscarriage 27 days ago and for about 2 weeks we have been TTC. I am also under investigation for a leaking heart valve. We are due to go abroad in 5 days and the doctor said I should take 2 aspirin every day before we go to thin my blood to prevent clotting on the plane. But what if I am already pregnant and the aspirin harms the baby? I daren`t start taking it until my period shows up but I should be taking it to make sure my blood doesn`t clot! HELP PLEASE!

I'm sure your doctor would understand, and find an alternate in case of pregnancy.

I agree with the others, call your doc and explain that you may be very newly pregnant and not know yet.

Your best bet is to go back to see the doctor and explain the situation to him. When i miscarried the dr advised me to leave it a couple of months before trying. Take care x

One more thing to note... I've heard that you should wait at least 2 full cycles after a miscarriage before TTC again. This allows your body to heal and resume its normal ovulation cycles again.

Does your doctor know you are trying to get pregnant? Asprin is a big no no in pregnancy. I have mitral valve prolapse (leaky heart) but I'm not on any meds and it only acts up at certain times. I've never heard of having to take it to thin the blood before going on a plane to prevent clots, I know you should get up and not sit the whole time but my doctor never told me to take asprin. I would go to google and see what else you can do to prevent the blood clots. The beginning of pregnancy is when the baby is most vulnerable to things such as drugs/cigarettes/alcohol because its when everything is developing and very important to be watching what you eat/drink/take. Good luck!

I would ask your health care provider to test you before giving you any meds to take! Ask for a vag. u/s, you may have to pay for it yourself, but at least you will know. There are some meds that they can give you to prevent blood clotting during pregnancy, so find out first and then take the safest med for you and your baby! God Bless!

IT will not pose too much of an issue that early in pregnancy. I wouldn't worry about it. I found out I was pregnant when I was 9 weeks, and during that 9 weeks before I knew, I took Asprin, Drank, got 2 root canals (with novicane and pain medicine afterwards) AND got a tetenis shot (got bit). The Dr informed me that it wouldnt be a big deal, and my baby was fine!

Take a test to find out if you are pregnant, then go from there.

I would take a pregnancy test first, (like today) so at least if you're not pregnant you can put your mind at ease about taking the asprin. You need to take care of yourself because if your health is in jeapordy so is your baby's.

i would start to take the aspirin asap, like micheala said your health is most important. even if u are pregnant u are still risking your blood clotting while on the plane which would be harmful to u and the baby.
