If it returns, perhaps a different kind of formula is in order. It may have been an allergic reaction.

We were told no pediatlyte .. too young. Just to keep feeding him his formula like normal. He seems to be doing much better, only has had 1 really nasty diaper today.
Edit: May 3, 2008.... He has been over this, it only last 4 days, and it had nothing to do with the formula, the doc said it was some type of viral thing .. plus I had the sickness before he did ... anyhoo he is still eating the same formula and doing much better!!
As for breastfeeding .. no .. I can't .. I wasn't making any milk anyway, so I couldn't.

Be sure to keep giving fluids. They can get dehydrated very quickly.

Ok this is what we were told, if the diarrhea doesn't clear up by Thursday, or he develops a fever, to take him into the doctors and we have to bring them a stool sample ....They said it could have been from the rotovirus vaccine he received, but things like that usually happen a couple days after, and he got his last Monday, so being delayed as it is, they said it could be from a different viral infection. So for now we have to wait.. that is what our doc said.

Keep the fluids down, if it seems like its all the time and no pee I would go to the doc. he/she might be dehydrated so keep the baby drinking lots of fluids most importantly.

Well I was vomiting and had diarrhea yesterday to... but he has only had 1 diaper that was diarrhea so far, no vomiting or anything .. also I talked to my hubby at work, he said that he got the rotateq vaccine last monday.. I wasn't there cause I was sick so hubby took him ... but he had also called the doc said that our son is too young for pedialyte but if he has any more diarrhea diapers to save one and bring it in to the ER today, they would test it, ewww. My son has not had any fevers either from all this ... which is weird.

check temp.. if your baby is old enough they may say make sure hes getting enough fluid to help with dehydration!! could be teething, ear infection, I know breasffed babies have looser stools, pediasure/pedialight works but talk to your DR before using this for enfants!

Take the temperature ASAP! He may have a stomach virus, as anything more then 8 loose diapers a day is a means for concern. I would bring him in to the DR. If she is not available, bring him/here to the ER. 1 or 2 diapers with diarrhea is ok, but 5 is not normal and he/she should be evaluated.

W/ a baby that young it is hard to know. It probably will not be the formula if he has been on the formula from the start and has not had a reaction to it. It could most certainly be due to his teething, especcially since your ped. has said that he is. Or it could be a stomach bug. Whatever it is, it is important to keep him hydrated, so if he stops drinking as much milk, you really need to get in touch w/ your ped. or call another ped. that will be able to help you until your ped. gets back. It would not hurt to give him some Pedialyte in a bottle, no more than what the bottle tells you to give him, b/c too much Pedialyte can cause his electrolytes to get too high. I hope he is feeling better soon!

Could it be possible that he is having a reaction to his formula? I had this problem with my oldest son when he was little, he would do okay on a formula and suddenly he would get very fussy, spit up all the time, diarrhea, we ended up going through like 3 different formulas before we found one that worked for him. Just make sure to keep the baby hydrated, I'm not sure if you can offer pedialyte at that age but I would ask about it.

No he actually is teething, I didn't think so either but his pediatrician even checked and he has 2 teeth coming in, one top one bottom, my middle son started teething at 2 1/2 months and my oldest at 4 months...
