im going to be 14 wks tomorrow and i have not had an ultrasound yet. i`m just a little worried why it should take this long

lady26 - 569 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You will be fine, the most important ultrasound is the 18-20wks ultrasound

niki - 570 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Dont be worried - they should scan you tomoorrow - i got scanned at 7 weeks but i couldnt make anything out - that way you will be able to see the baby small as it may still be.

deborah86 - 576 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) unless the Dr. is worried , the first u/s is around 18 weeks.

NorthDay - 576 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had my first us at 18 weeks and am having my 2nd one next week at 32 weeks. I am pretty sure this is normal, unless you are experiencing a problem pregnancy.

debi - 578 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I know over here (uk) we have a scan between 10 n 14 wks, its called dating scan. Its only in the last 2 yrs theyve done that, it used to be 20wks. Ring your midwife x

Melanie07 - 578 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Some docs even wait till 20 or 24 weeks. The only time the do one sooner is if they need to check something. Usually if you are not measuring properly they will scan early. It just depends on the doc. 14 weeks is early for a scan.

michaela - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would ring your dr's office and find out when they normally do the scans, just incase you have accidently slipped through the net. xx

mommy-of-3 - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Unless they have a specific reason to do one, the earliest most places will do one is at 16 weeks. If they are unsure of your due date or have a concern about baby's well-being then they will do one before this time.

kathleen - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) really depends on where u live, your doctor/hospital. with my 1st child i got my 1st scan at 16 wks with my 2nd child i got my 1st scan at 10 wks

gr8scottswife - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Some doctors don't give them until you are 16 or more weeks.

LMO - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it really depends on the doctor not all of them give you ultra sounds every visit if you are concerned ask the dr to give you one.

brandi j. - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It depends on your doctor. W/ my 1st baby, I got an early u/s at 8 weeks, and then one around 28 weeks. W/ my 2nd baby, I was going to a doc who had his own u/s machine, and so I got one at every visit until we moved and I had to switch doctors. W/ my 3rd baby, I didn't get one until week 20, which ended up pushing my due date back b/c I was only 17 weeks, and then another one at week 35, just b/c I was measuring small. W/ baby #4, I had to get one in the beginning, b/c I had not had a cycle so they could not calculate my due date, and then I had one at week 20, and then one at week 30ish, once again b/c I was measuring small. I have read that alot of docs wait until week 20 b/c they believe that is the most accurate time to do the u/s. This is what my u/s tech explained to me, she said that at week 20 all babies measure the same, whereas after that point, if she was going to have an 8 lb baby, and I was going to have an average sized baby, her baby would always measure ahead. And the reason alot of docs opt out of doing one in the 1st trimester, is b/c if your dates are wrong and they do it too early, it will look as if you lost your baby, and it causes alot of unneccesary worry for the mom. I, like you, like to have an early u/s, b/c waiting to week 20 seems like a long time!

jessicadarling - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Where I am from you only get one at 19 weeks and if there are no problems then you don't get another one. Don't worry, I know you are eager but you will get to see your wee one soon.

Mommyof2boys - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They usualy do one around 14 weeks and then again around 24. You should be getting one really soon. If you don't get one at your apt. you should ask when they will be doing one.

KarenVG - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Where I live you do not get one before 18/ 19 weeks unless there is a need or concern. Do not worry, we usually only get one. I know some people sound like they get alot... but there is nothing to worry about! However It is a good patience test for those of us who just want to the the little darling!

amandapmills - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it depends on the doctor... usually throughout your pregnancy you dont get that many ultrasounds.... which sucks.... but at my first appt the couldn't find the heartbeat with the hand held machine so they said that if they cant find it at my next appt then they'll do an ultrasound.... so at my 12 week appt they did an ultrasound. I dont think they would've done one until i was further along if they found the heartbeat at the first appt..... but you will definetly get one around 20 weeks for the anatomy scan.... Also it might depend on how many your insurance company covers..... if u have insurance call them and ask them how many ultrasounds you are covered for.... hope this helps

totallykatalicious - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It all differs where you live, here in the US, they do alot of them .. I had alot with my pregnancies because I was high risk ... I wasn't supposed to have any other kids after my 1st son, I had 5 losses but went on to have 2 more kids, with a total of 3 healthy children, I am done though.

MelissaJoanne - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Doctors don't always find them necessary in an otherwise healthy patient. I had one at 7 weeks because I have other health problems (intestinal disease), and my gastroenterologist wanted one as soon as possible. Other women that are "high risk" in some way, or have some history of miscarriage, have early ultrasounds. If your doctor hasn't given you one yet, it's because you and baby are healthy!

klasnaya - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Isnt that just unfair? The reason i go out of town is cuz over here you get one u/s at 20 weeks thats it! unless there is complications of course. And i dont like the docters here anyways so i drive 100 miles thats 2 hours back and forth for each appointment! But at least i have a good doc i can trust.

Baby3OnWay - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I haven't had an ultrasound yet either and I am nearly 18 weeks prego. I get on on May 6th... my first one and I will be nearing 20 weeks. Some Drs don't find it necessary to checkif you have had no signs of a problem but I see your anxious... its normal!! some people here get them as the are high risk, had a problem, live somewhere different... I find a lot of others in my week have had one or more, but I still haven't had one. Hang in there the later the better the chances of finding out if thats what you want! Take Care!

njstewy - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) most people don't get an ultra sound until between 18-20 weeks. .people who get them earlier have a hard time knowing when there last period was or how far along they are. . both of my niece had ones done early but I didn't have my first one until 19 weeks

lizzie287 - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If you don't opt for early screening, like the nuchal translucency and things like that, I don't think they habitually order ultrasounds until around week 20. If you want something sooner though, by all means ask your doctor about it.

lindamc - 579 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) you haven't had you first u/s yet?
