okay my girl is almost 5 weeks is it normal for her to still sound congested... I don`t think it`s a cold- she just has boogies and it sounds like she can`t breath through her nose.

Try saline nose drops

MelissaJoanne - 16 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes)
It is normal, and your doctor should be able to provide you with saline drops if needed.

Yeah my daughter was the same... the doctor should give you saline drops for up the babies nose.

Does she make a grunting or sighing sound when breathing? If so call Dr. If not even though baby will get mad put a little saline in nose one nostril @ time and use a bulb syringe to clear it out

Babies have a lot of fluid that has to come out. The nasal aspirator is your best friend. You can also use a cool mist humidifier. It can also be allergies. The only thing the doc will tell you to do is use the humidifier, aspirator, and maybe saline drops.

For the most part it is normal for young babies to be a little stuffy most of the time. If it seems to be a constant thing you might want to talk to the doctor about it to make sure there isn't anything causing allergies.

maybe she has allergies, just use some saline nose drops and a nasal aspirator and that should help

This is normal. You can use the nose aspirator, a cool air humidifier is great too. However, if you notice that she is struggling to breath, and her chest is sinking in when she takes a breath, then take her immediately to the ER or your ped. Either way, it is a good idea for you to tell your ped, what is going on. Putting a tiny bit of Vicks on her feet and cover w/ socks, not on her chest or back, b/c the scent will be too strong for a baby that young, this will clear her breathing some too.

All babies get a lil stuffy and congested, just use the nose asperator they gave you at the hospital, she's getting enough oxygen it just might sound like she's having a hard time.

Sometimes when their born they get fluid trapped in their nose. It sounds like they cant breath and have a lot of boggies. It takes time for their nose to clear. I had a spray for my baby which the doctor told me I could use. It helped disolve the fluid so she could breath a little bit better. My baby is 10 weeks now and she doesn´t have it any more and I think it stopped when she was 4 weeks old.

would a humidifier do anything? I've also seen some vicks type plugin stuff... but I don't really know if that's safe to use. If she does have allergies what would they do for them?

I went to my Dr and he kinda giggled at me... I guess this is something a lot of mothers worry about, their children having trouble breathing as they are congested, he said that since they are so young theres nothing that we can give them and to give it time to clear. He also said that if it gets too bad and we worry about it when they are sleeping to either prop their heads with a pillow under the crib mattress or to have them sleep in the car seat for a night or two... basically so that if it drips down their throat as its clearing that they don't choke on it. My son is like this now and 5.5 months old and i have a pillow under the head side of his crib mattress and it seems to help BIG TIME!!

I agree with Christina it just might be allergies , I know that me and my hubby are both suffering fromt them right now . .lol me more cause I cant do nothing about it!

Christina1984 - 25 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes)
i was thinking maybe it could be allergies. where i live its getting warm and there is pollen flying around. or maybe its just dust bothering her. the slightest bit of dust could bother a newborn considering they spent 9 months inside lol.

yes it is normal baby breath through their noses so it gets dry in there i use a nasal aspirator on my baby but only in the opening of his nose
