what do you do to keep your baby entertained? And how do you go about normal upkeep of the house? I was holding my baby for a lot of the day, then discovered the bouncy chair... which gives me a chance to do some quick stuff.

For the first while i used the motions glider(fisher price)machine washable covers it was a great job.... it sways and plays music - it also has a belt then i propped the back of it up with blankets to feed my wee lady solids - didnt want to put Emogene in a high chair to get fed at 4 months.

I would carry the baby in a wrap so I could go about with my hands free to get stuff done. Sort of depends on the age of your baby if very young this is a great option before getting into bouncy seats, swings and exersaucers.

one word: swing-o-matic!

The baby swing is your best friend. You can also use the stroller. You can push it to whichever room you are in. Boucy seats are great too.

I have the Newborn soother swing, Bouncer, baby play mat and also his changer on the playpen with the mobile. Usually one of these will work for atleast a few minutes so that I can get stuff done

I would set my baby in a swing and play some soft music, and let him near me whatever I was doing, laundry or dishes etc. sometimes I would lay a blanket out and let him strech out in the floor. As far as upkeep on the house, I did laundry twice a week not letting it get backed up and after dinner I did the dishes even if I just wanted to set down and go to bed, I knew I would feel better in the morning waking up to a clean house and so did my dh. I had also made a list and that made it easy just to check stuff off that needed to be done.

Babies are happy to look and stare at objects and mainly their parents. I have a baby gym and put I place her in her chair so she can watch me doing things about the house.

When my kids were babies I would put them in an electric swing that had the little toy tray on it. Most of the time it would actually put them right to sleep, allowing me to have at least an hour or two to myself and get things done...

i'm always home alone during the week as my partner works away... my daughter use to like her bouncy chair but since she has learnt to sit up she won't go in it any more, at the moment she like's her blow up donut play jim and her door bouncer she also loves sitting in her bumbo seat watching her brother playing. now its getting warmer in the uk i will start taking her & her bro to the park and feed the ducks. i don't worry about house work till they are both sound asleep

I have my son in the bouncy chair alot.. mine comes with music and toys you can attach, he doesn't like the swing which ois ok as it takes up a lot of space. I also have a 28month old here at home so between meals and play... I never have time to do house work my hubby works 12-9pm CRAZY I tend to have tummy time with the little one as my daughter watches her morning shows and has breakfast, late after noon I head to the park and let her lay while the baby and I lay on a blanket under a tree... theres not much you can do but imitate, and watch at this point. As for the house work... sometimes you just have to learn to let go and do it when you can. It was hard for me to do this at first but i can do it now that I have 2 and it just seems impossible at this point. BUT when I have to fold/put away laundry, dishes or something I just keep the little one in the chair and do my work... stopping to say a few words to make him giggle and laugh!! Good Luck my lady, so tiring wasting a day waiting for someone to come visit. I even get HUGE phone bills from calling everyone I know on some down time HAHA but somehow we make it to another day!

n my daughter was born i was always alone. always!! her dad (now who knows where) even spent nights out with friends most of the time. i would get up in the morning and we would go for a walk and i would try and get things done while she napped. at 1st when all she did was sleep it was easy. then when she slept less i too got a bouncy chair and she loved it. but at 5 mnths she learned to craw out of it and i would get things done while holding her

im alone a lot, and for entertainment i would use a baby gym and lay my son under it to stare at, or the swing in front of a window, or a movie. he really liked seeing the screen change, he didnt know what it was, but they are so fascinated by the lights changing. i also got things done when he was sleeping...

I have read that leaving baby to just stare at objects for the first three months is what makes them happy. They may be content to look at a ray of sunshine. As long as they are not fussing, let them be. They are content and still having fun in their own ways.

Aw thank you!!

Hi ya I was alone an awful lot with my first little one and I must say I tried to work while the baby was asleep during the day and then the time he was awake just tended to his needs all your little one needs right now is love and the obvious milk nappy changing and general maintenance, you never get back the magical first few months so relax and just enjoy them and when the baby begins to want to be entertained I am sure she will let you know x congratulations x x
