Have any of your ever been told that they couldn`t see certain features of your baby because of your weight? What does the mother`s weight have to do with anything if they can see everything else perfectly clearly?

lady26 - 164 days ago Rating: 4 (1 votes) Never heard of it, but it could be possible.

Baby3OnWay - 165 days ago Rating: 2 (1 votes) never heard that... thats a very unprofessional response if I ever heard one... SO NOT TRUE!

amygirl22 - 165 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) I was over weight when I got pregnant. I am at 11-12 weeks now. I had an ultrasound done monday. I thought you could see everything just fine (I think the tech wasnt very good tho). U can look at my pics and see.

MelissaJoanne - 166 days ago Rating: 2 (1 votes) I haven't heard that. I think that whomever said that was trying to be insulting.

pageantmommie - 172 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hi girly, My dr. did the same freakin thing to me, she couldnt see my baby that well with just doing a scan with the wand so she did it the vaginal way and still was complaining about how I was fat !! She would grab my belly and say it is too thick I cant see. I was horrified !!! I wanted to tell her that maybe if her ultra sound machine was older than me than she could probably see better LOL ! I am 28 and I think she was using the same machine that she used on my mother when she was pregnant with me!!!! What I did was go to a place were you have to pay on your own... they do like the 4d ultra sounds were the machines are very up to date and guess what.... the tech, myself and my husband could see everything just fine.... we even found out that we are having a girl so much for its to thick lol !!! I also changed docs because I was so pissed about what she did and said. Every visit was all about how my stomach was to thick, so I left her and now I have Kaiser which they seem to be a little more professional with us fluffy chicks ! Good luck !

mellowyellow - 173 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) He Lizzie. Certain aspects of my ultrasound couldn't be viewed because of 'maternal body habitus'. That was their polite way of saying I was overweight. So I had to go back and have further u/s screening a few weeks later when my baby was bigger and therefore easier to visualise. It was no biggie. Im sorry if they were rude to you, there is def no need! We all come in different sized packaging.

klasnaya - 173 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) She was probably trying to be insulting or hurtful! Man ive never heard of that! This clinic in our town has an old u/s and i know this extremely overweight women who had 8 kids and they never had a problem seeing anything! OMG That is so mean. Anyways i dont go to this clinic but i have been there before.

agonzales - 173 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Im plus size and my doc never had a problem seeing the baby on the u/s and his machine is pretty old. That doesnt sound right what she put down on that paper.

lizzie287 - 173 days ago Thank you ladies. I didn't think it sounded right, and I really don't have THAT much bulk anyway. Much appreciated.

michaela - 173 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would not be happy with that ultrasound technician, i have never heard of a mummy's weightbeing an issue. i just think she/he doesn't know what she/he is doing and a poor workman always blames his tools. I would be wrting a complaint about whoever said that. I did have issues with having an overfull bladder at my 12 week scan, but once baby is a bit bigger there shouldn't be anything stopping you being able to see her properly. All the best.xx

PatzMum - 173 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have never been told that and I have a lot of excess weight around my middle. The only thing I found was at the beginning when they have to be on your pelvic area and lower abdomin that they push really hard- altho my pelvic area has no extra fat on it, 'she' seemed to be very rough. I was glad when the baby was up higher, it didn't hurt anymore.

kbushby - 174 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i havent heard of that.. that sounds a little crazy to me.. i wear a size 16 to 18 jean and i dont see any problems, besides the u/s machine being old :) i remember when i was pregnant with my son there were times that i couldnt see his face good, and they told me it was because the fluids will make it look funny. it was probably just fluids that were covering its face.. congrats on you baby though..

Mommyof2boys - 174 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've never heard of there being a problem, usualy the baby shows just fine for big or small women.

Cynlee47 - 174 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Two of my friends are plus-sized and so am I. Neither of them had any problems while pregnant getting there ultrasounds and so far I haven't either.

LMO - 174 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i never had a hard time seeing the baby. weight shouldnt have anything to do with it

Cindie - 174 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm not little, but not real big either. (size 15 now 5'8, almost 20weeks pregnant) and I've never had them have a tough time seeing the baby, in the early days tho, they had to press hard to get a good view.

lizzie287 - 174 days ago Well I guess my major issue is with the fact that the baby was facing my spine, which is why we couldn't see the facial features, and yet she felt the need to put in her report that it was because of my "body habitus". We could see everything else clear as day, so I'm having a lot of trouble understanding the logic behind what she said. Seems to me like she was looking for any excuse to put down on paper and felt like that was a good one to use.

mommy-of-3 - 174 days ago Rating: 2 (1 votes) I was very heavy with my first baby, I was depressed and eating all of the time. Nevertheless nobody ever mentioned anything about having trouble seeing on the u/s, they were able to do everything they needed to do regardless of my excess weight.

JennSever - 174 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) fat is not a conduit for ultrasound waves and its difficult to get an accurate reading. last yr (before i lost 60+lbs) the dr had difficulties doing my ultrasound, however, the newer the machine the easier the results. also, take heart, it could be your dr. passive/aggressive way to make you like the rest of his patients.
