I had that around 8 weeks, and I'm 15 weeks right now. It made me paranoid, but didn't have any ill-effect other than that!

The first few months it isn't that out of the ordinary for woman to have some spotting. with my second pregnancy I actually got a full period for nearly two months cycle!! INSANE.. didn't even know I was prego because of this! your cervix is sensative and could have been caused by intercourse as well, or a simple UTI. Wait until you see the Dr cause if they weren't concerned about the red then they wouldn't be concerned with pink or brownish,,, the red is what to worry the most, but usually later in pregnancy. Best of luck and rest up!

Sometimes spotting happens after sex or after an exam. The cervix is really sensative right now.

They may just want you on bedrest until they know what is causing the spotting. Some women do experience spotting in early pregnancy and everything turns out just fine. Just try your best to stay calm until your appointment when you can find out what's going on for sure. I wish you worlds of luck, please keep us posted and let us know how things turn out Friday.

I thought spotting was normal during pregnancy but if your doc has you on bedrest, I would take it easy watch some movies read some books, puzzles, knitting are all things to help time go by.

BeckyT22,
I was spotting and cramping for one night at 20 weeks (by dates), I went to the hosp. The baby was fine, I was told not to lift anything, no exercise, no sex. I listened, I haven't had any bleeding since. I have gone to the ob/gyn for my first appointment. Tomorrow I go to my family doc. My baby is fine, I am the one suffering, LOL.
Try to relax as much as possible. Maybe to some sudoku puzzles if you get bored when laying down. ( I need a new book, I've gone through 3!)
Good Luck, E-C-L

I know of several ppl who bled early in the pregnancy and have gone on to deliver a perfectly healthy baby. Get plenty of rest, make sure you eat well and keep well hydrated, don't lift heavy weights or stain yourself and whilst you are still spotting definitely avoid sex. Don't hesitate to go back to the ER if you do have a another bleed. Good luck, i will keep my fingers crossed that all works out well for you. xx

Many women have spotting and go on to deliver healthy babies. Just rest as much as you can, no stressing and no lifting or sex. Hopefully it will stop soon. Although bleeding is often the first sign of miscarriage, often it is just from the placenta forming or from a slight tear. Sometimes its a sign of placenta previa, a placental tear or even a subchorionic hemorrhage or placental abruption. If it gets any heavier or red'er - go straight to ER. Once you pass 12-14 weeks the likelyhood of miscarriage is much smaller. Remember brown blood is normally always OK! congrats on ur pregnancy :)
