Has anyone left the hospital the same day they gave birth? and is this normal or do the doctors normal let you stay over night or a day or two before releasing you?

That seems pretty rare. They legally have to let you stay longer than that.

Hi there. My first I left the next morning (he was born at lunchtime) My second and third the same day. BUT.......I would recommend staying at least 24 hrs. Im now preggers with twins and aiming on staying as long as they will let me (bit of a holiday) lol. Whatever you feel comfortable with. :)

After having my daughter, I was feeling great and they let me go home the next day... but for my first, I was there for 3 days. So, I guess it depends on whether the doctor feels you and the baby can be released and go home.

Yes. I've heard of many women leaving the same day. Typically, though the hospital will make you stay overnight to earn some extra money from your insurance company (ha!).

if you have a birth with no problems then you should be entitled to go home the next day but if u have a c-ection they tend to keep you in a little longer to check everything is ok

I had my baby at 2am i stayed that day and overnight but asked to go home the following day - they where happy enough with letting me go as i had bathed the baby myself, to be honest i was happy to get home as the midwives didnt help much in the hospital i was in.... grrr... good luck x

I live in Austria and they keep you in hospital for 3 days. If you have a c-section then they keep you in for 5 days. If there are any problems ie: with baby or yourself they will keep you in for longer. I think its different in the UK though and USA

it really depends on where u live and the hospital u give birth in, i'm from the uk and with my 1st i had to stay in 24hrs just to make sure that i was ok after the birth and baby feed, poop, wee, hearing test was done and check up from the doctor pluse i had to bath baby b4 i left the hospical. with my 2nd i had her at 12.35am and left the hospical at 2.00pm so stayed in less then 24 hrs baby had her test then i could go.

The hospital i gave birth in will release you the same day as long as you aren't a first time mum and haven't had any complications. They will keep the baby for a few hours after birth to make sure he/she feeds, poops and then a dr will do a full physical on the baby then you are free to go. personally, i stayed 2 days and was glad of the rest and midwife support on hand.

My first one I was in for a few days, my second one I was there only 24 hours... they have to keep you at least 24 hours so that they can check the baby, do the PKU testing and all that fun stuff... I HATE HOSPITALS THOUGH and wish I could give birth and go home! haha but for the health and safety of the baby I suck it up! Best of luck

I gave birth at 8:30 in the morning and went home at 4 that afternoon. It was my choice to go home and as I had no pain relief with a natural vaginal delivery and baby was great they said it was ok,I just had to register with home visits from a midwife before I left. The usual length os stay is about two days though and if you are breast feeding they like to check that it is established before you go as well. The hospitals help alot with making sure all is well before you go, dont worry what ever length of stay you require it will be alright.

Its rare because they usualy want to monitor you over night to make sure you and baby are doing well to go home.

I had to stay 24 hours after I gave birth. I checked in at 6am but didn't give birth until 6pm so I couldn't leave until 6pm the next day. That's if you and the baby don't have any problems and that's with a vaginal delivery. My friend had a c-section and she stayed 4 days. It depends on the hospital so you could call them and they'll tell you their standard procedure.

Where I live you stay in the hospital 24 hours or less if there are no problems. I delivered at 4:15 pm and I left by noon the next day.
