I am about 8 1/2 weeks pregnant (first pregnancy). My first problem is that I think I have a UTI. I called the doctor about 1 1/2 weeks ago, and took a full amount of Macrobid. Now, it seems to be coming back. I have my first prenatal next Wednesday. Will drinking cranberry juice and water be okay until next Wednesday? My husband is out of town until Sunday, so I don`t want them to ask me to come in and then do my first prenatal without my husband.
Second, I had migraines before getting pregnant. I had preventative medicine, and then medicine to make the migraines go away once I got one. I am now getting migraines again. Does anyone have any natural solutions? Tylenol helps, but the migraine just comes back the next day. Dr. said I could take Maxalt, but I am not chancing it.
Thanks.

If you took the macrobid like it was prescribed and you are still feeling like it's still there, try to give it a few days and sometimes the symptoms will go away if not they might start you on another antibiotic and maybe your doctor can call it in over the phone until waiting on your next apt. or you can do the cranberry juice or pill which doesn't have all the sugar like the juice. For the migraines try to take the tylenol right when you start feeling one come on, if that doesn't help try taking a nap or a warm long bath and deep breathing. good luck!

In relation to the UTI, pregnant women are more susceptible to them, and there are many different causes, however you get them more frequently during pregnancy because your anatomy changes. You must see your doctor and get it treated with antibiotics straight away, as it may affect the baby and may cause miscarriage. I don't intend to alarm you and there's no need to panic, but you do need to treat UTI's promptly and ensure that they have cleared.

I had 3 when i first got pregnant....or maybe just the same one that never went away.... finally went away after about 18 weeks...
Migraines...not sure how to permanently cure them, but i take Tylenol Migraine Relief....seems to do the trick.
If they get unbearable, try taking a hot bath with Lavender.

I am 30 weeks pregnant now and well when i first got pregnant just about where you are I kept getting all sorts of UTI's I had about 4 or 5 the most uncomfortable thing well they told me it might be due to sex. Drinking cranberry juice can help, however never just assume that you can put it off...UTI cane be harmful to your baby.

I see some people are suggesting cranberry juice- this can be helpful but can also make things worse if the sugar content is too high. YOu can get cranberry pills they have no sugar and are recommended by obygn's. Make sure if you try this you get good ones. You need to know these things are usually taken everyday to prevent UTI's- so they may or or may not be effective at this point. Not to be an alarmist but UTI's can be dangerous during pregancy causing kidney infections and then contractions and even m/c. So please don't mess around if you are truly concerned see your Dr and get treated.

As long as you drink TONS of water day and night and also include cranberry juice, you should be okay to get by until Wednesday. As for the migranes I beleive there are some meds that are okay during pregnancy but you will have to ask your doctor about them to make sure.

cranberry juice and water is perfectly fine to drink, try the head on stuff for your headachs... they have one for migraines and I know it seems strange for something like that to work it actually does and did for many other moms I told to try it on here! I wish you all the best and take care!!

Migraines suck. I've gotten horrible ones for years, and used to take lovely prescription meds for them. Since being pregnant. I spent weeks 5-11 getting migraines almost every day, and the last couple weeks they seem to have subsided. I took tylenol and stayed in bed a lot. If you stay really well hydrated they don't get quite as bad. Good luck. They do pass. You'll probably have a cruddy month of migraines, and then be back to getting them sporadically every few weeks.

Not treating a UTI will cause contractions and the infection to go further in your body which could effect the baby (probably not but could). Please get it treated and just tell them you want your husband there for the actual prenatal exam. They should comply. If your husband WANTS to go to the exams, by all means, your a lucky girl so tell the staff it's very important he be there. For the migraines, I was told I could take anything tylenol except for advanced tylenol. Pregnancy is one of those things your going to have to tough it out through. I was scared to take certain medicine too becaues one book would say it is ok to take, a doctor would say no, a nurse would say yes and so on. I just toughed alot of things out. I realised that most things I suffered during pregnancy from only lasted about 2 weeks...insomina, headaches, morning sickness, cramps, back aches.
