Hey...I`m 34 weeks pregnant and this afternoon I keep getting a tightening...crampy kind of feeling down the sides and across the top of my stomach...it`s more high up than low down...but it`s quite painful. It keeps getting worse then going off a bit. I just wondered if anyone has anything similar or knows what it could be please?

lady26 - 97 days ago Rating: 1 (2 votes) Sounds like Braxton Hicks

MelissaJoanne - 98 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) Sounds like Braxton Hicks. Your body is preparing for labour.

niki - 98 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) b/h but they will come and go - contractions will get closer together and stronger if your in labour. take care x

nich-vegas-mommy2be - 104 days ago Rating: 2 (1 votes) Could be Braxton Hicks, or could be real contractions? Do they go away if you change positions or walk around? Or does drinking a lot of water help them go away? Normally a BH will not be really painful, and they aren't regular nor would they increase in intensity. If you are experiencing these pains more and more frequently, on a steady basis, and they keep getting worse or won't go away with changing positions and such, I would call the doc!

Debra - 105 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) Braxton Hicks Contractions: Can be very strong and painful at times! They occur more when you are dehydrated as your uterus is actually irritated from the lack of water in your system and contracts in response. IF you have these very frequently, drink water and see if they go away. However, Braxton hicks contractions do train your uterus for labour and prepare baby for the upcoming show. If the contractions don't go away and become regular, then there's a good chance you may be in early labour and should go to the hospital or see your doctor immediately.

Mommyof2boys - 105 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) I've been having it for a couple weeks now, I went to the doctor for my check up and he said it sounded like I was having braxton hicks, to sit down and rest for about 15mins and then go on about what I was doing, you can also take tylenol if its really bad or seems to bother you. Braxton hicks is just its way of getting you prepared for the real deal in the next few weeks :) goodluck!

Melanie07 - 105 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) It is Braxto Hicks contractions. They are like practice contractions. They can feel pretty real at times. Just relax and drink lots of fluids.

lmo - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it could be braxton hicks time them if they are regular it could be preterm labor.

wildberry - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) time theme if they form a pattern you are having contractions if not they are braxton hicks if they do form a pattern and you have more than 4 in one hour you could be in preterm labor and you need to go to the hospital to stop them since you are only 34 weeks and it's best to keep baby in till at least 37 weeks

Cindie - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Time it, because it sounds like contractions. Time how many you have in an hour! If they reach 5 min. apart then go to the hospital or just call up now and ask if they want you to come in.

mommy-of-3 - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) This sounds like Braxton Hicks, if they begin to get stronger and come faster then you should go in because it could be actual labor.

Baby3OnWay - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) BRAXTON HICKS MY DEAR... getting you ready for the big day!!! WHOOT WHOOT your almost there.. wish you all the luck and I LOVE YOUR PROFILE PICTURE!! wow

mommauv4 - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They are probably Braxton Hicks. Do they go away when you lie down? If you are finding that the pain is getting worse and closer together you may want to get it checked out. BH usually slow down when you take it easy and get worse when you are busy.

Christina1984 - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i was just checking others responses cuz i had that tightening last night. the thing is im only going on 24 weeks. wonder if that is normal. if u find out more let me know

natrob - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yep they are braxton hicks, I have had them very intermittantly from week 10!..at 34 weeks thou havin not had them before I would see how regularly and strong your gettin them xx

lilmissred - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) braxton hicks

njstewy - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Sounds like braxton hicks. .I would time them and wait for about 2 hours. .if they get worse call doctor. But most of the time they will go away

jen - 105 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If they become regular or timeable, then I would call your OB. Until then, just keep track of it and your babies movements. Probably just those good old warm up contractions! Good luck!

ttasha - 105 days ago Rating: 2 (1 votes) Yea ive experienced that it should be braxton hicks contractions but if you really are worried i would advise you to speak to either your midwife or doctor about it
