I had that pain for the first 3 weeks after both of my boys were born. It was only when I leaned back against a soft surface though. Weird I know. My visiting nurse suggested I call the doctor about it, but I never did. It went away on it's own. If it's bothering you that bad though...call the doctor :)

It is a common side effect of the epidural

i did with my 3rd, it hurt for about 2 months. If it continues to get worse though i would give your Dr. a call. there can be complications afterward. I had such a bad experience with my last one, i have decided to try not to get one with this baby. My other two, i had no issues at all. Anyhow...just keep an eye on it, and if it continues to bother you or gets worse talk to the dr.

the pain can be associated with the epi- I had this with both an epi and a spinal block. not only was the muscle along my spine feeling tender, but occsionally I would have another little pain inside, like a pin prick. With all those nerves in there, it's very likely that a couple were irritated with the cathedar when they inserted or removed it. It should go away soon, but if it's accompanied by severe pain and or is hot to the touch-speak with dr right away as this is a sign of infection. :)

They actually told me that when I got one there was a chance of that happening. After the birth of my first son, I did not have any back pains from the epidural. With my second, I had bad pain for about 2 weeks. It did go away, but was scary because of the risk of permanent nerve damage. I would talk to your doctor about it if you are still having pain.

I had no problems with mine. It is possible. I would tell the doc. Some people have bad problems with it. They only have a very small area to put it through. It is very easy to miss the correct spot.

I never had any problems after I had my epidural but I know a few woman in my family who have. I would check into it though just in case it could be something fixed... or go see a chiropractor... they work wonders!

I never noticed anything from mine, it could be what you are doing during the day and how you are carrying the baby could be giving you back pains. I do know I have a knot on my back where they put the epidural it was sore to touch for a couple years but never any pain in my spine, if it gets to bothering you I would make a doc. apt. good luck!!

how are you carrying baby? Its been a month since you delivered and you are more likely to notice back pain from an epidural more immediately after birth if its complications from that. How are you holding baby when walking? sitting? Are you looking down at baby a lot? what kind of nursing pillow are you using? Even if you are bottle feeding, I recommend making sure you are supported while feeding your child. You should be supported and sitting properly each tim you feed baby. I recommend MY BREST FRIEND feeding pillow to everyone i talk to. It has ergonomic support for baby's head and cushioning for your back.

I've heard that it's pretty common to have pain in your spine for about a month after you have an epidural...but it doesn;t happen to anyone.
Complain to your doctor about it, and maybe he'll give you something to 'take the edge off', lol.
good luck !

Hey they didnt do it correctly thats why. If they miss the perfect spot you will be hurting sometimes for a couple months! I know a lady that had it good once then next baby they poked her wrong and couldnt get the needle in but stuck it in finaly and it didnt feel normal she said. Well after that she hurt for a few months her back was killing her! Yeah our backs are sensitive :( im worried about this time since i had back pain from being poked wrong. I think i might go natural if i can. Ahhh good luck to you

Maybe go to a Chiropractor they can tell you that and they can fix it for you... see how it goes a few days first.
