Anyone pregnant and insurance won`t cover your pregnancy because you got pregnant before you had insurance?

lady26 - 85 days ago Thanks for your responses

slnkl - 87 days ago Rating: 2 (1 votes) i'd just reapply for medicaid! it does cover 3 months back before you do get insurance! good luck to you!

Brandi J. - 89 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I haven't ever had that happen, I have been able to get insurance everytime. I use 2 different insurances, Cigna and Medicaid. I have to reapply for Medicaid each time and have never had a problem. I was pregnant when I first applied for Cigna and they didn't give me any problems either, I just had to get a certain plan (sorry can't remember which one), that covered pre-existing causes.

ashleyandcaleb - 91 days ago Rating: 2.5 (2 votes) i got pregnant when my medicaid got turned off,i just had to reapply now its fine.so try re-applying maybe?..good luck.

kelsul - 91 days ago Rating: 4 (2 votes) i only had that problem with short-term-disability. they said they would not cover me because i had a "pre-exsisting condition". such a pain the butt. if it's just health insurance, i have never heard of that...good luck, i hope it works out for you.

blessedjoy - 92 days ago Rating: 2.5 (2 votes) Not me personally, however my neighbor is going thru this issue now. She had recently been layed off and no insurance, not low income and still can't qualify for medicaid. She is with a wonderful church orginization that is helping her out, slightly. Good luck.

mommy-of-3 - 92 days ago Rating: 3 (1 votes) I have MinnesotaCare and I think they will go back 3 months for almost any type of medical expenses and take care of them.

wildberry - 92 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) yes i had that problem

Melanie07 - 92 days ago Rating: 2.5 (2 votes) If you are low income you can get medicaide. It is free insurance for low income pregnant women and children.

njstewy - 92 days ago Rating: 1 (1 votes) I had a planned pregnancy so I made sure that I had insurance before hand. .but I would try to go through the welfare office. It's worth a shot. I didn't think that I would have been covered but I am so I don't have to pay anything. good luck

Mommyof2boys - 92 days ago Rating: 2.3 (3 votes) When I got pregnant I had no insurance so I googled it and there's a few places that can help pay for some of the stuff but not all. I think its called maturnitycard.com and they can call you and work with you. You can also get on medicaid if you go to your local social services and apply for it. I had my husband add me on his work insurance because its a group insurance and they can't say pregnancy is a pre existing so they had to add me. But if its not group like bluecross, untied health etc they will say its pre-existing. good luck!

Baby3OnWay - 92 days ago Rating: 2.5 (2 votes) Move to Ontario!! here everything is covered for you except semi-private and private rooms after birth. I have drug benefits but everything else is covered for us! That sucks, hope its not TOO expensive

nich-vegas-mommy2be - 92 days ago Rating: 3 (2 votes) Luckily our insurance covered me, even though I got pregnant ONE MONTH after signing up! The only thing is, now my husband's job will be ending in July and we will either have to switch to my work's insurance, or pay COBRA - which either option might not cover it fully :( Insurance companies are a pain!

uhmanduh - 92 days ago Rating: 2 (1 votes) what state are you in???

lmo - 92 days ago Rating: 2 (2 votes) i havent had that happen but you can apply at a state agency and they will probably give you medicaide

Christina1984 - 92 days ago Rating: 2.3 (3 votes) YES!!! dealing with that right now. still cant even get an ultrasound and i will be 24 weeks 2moro. im trying to get medicaid, but they are taking 4ever and giving me a hard time.

gr8scottswife - 92 days ago Rating: 2.3 (4 votes) Yes. We bought insurance in July, and got pregnant in January. They would not cover us because we got pregnant two months sooner than the coverage was in effect on the maternity rider. Everything else was fully covered from July. I read up on it, and realized that many insurance companies will pay on day one for anything just about except maternity, and that most have a 9 month to 1 year effectiveness policy, which should be against the law. It is very discriminatory, and we already paid for the maternity, and we didn't get a refund for that part of the insurance that we already paid for. That's like going shopping and fully paying (not lay-away) for clothes but not being allowed to bring them home and wear them. At any rate, you can either sign up for government assistance or you can try Maternity Advantage or find a midwife, who is much more economical (and wonderful) than a doctor.

mrsbekki - 92 days ago Rating: 2 (2 votes) My friend had just moved and changed jobs. She found out she was pregnant right before she got insurance. It was a big headache. She ended up taking to her employer and they were able to work it out. She had to back pay a month or two out of the pocket but she did have insurance for most all of her pregnancy by just being up front with her employer. Best of luck.
