In the hospital over here in N.Ireland they wont let you go any longer than 10 days over... so i guess somewhere between your due date and when they can fit you in between then and the 10 days if your a first time mum they wont bring you in on a weekend. Good luck x

Most doctors will not allow their patients to go over more than 2 weeks over due.

It depends on your doctor but most normally induced around 42 weeks because if your baby is well over due it can cause the baby to be born with cracked, dry skin or it may be too big to be delivered naturally and could cause tear.

i believe they will induce at 41 wks. the longer the baby stays in after 40 wks the more risk. the fluid starts to thin out or something like that.

Well i had midwives who are kinda naturalists and unless you or the baby is in any stress danger or harm, they don't induce, they just let the baby come when it's ready...I got a stress test with my last one and everything was fine...then went into labor the next night.....unless there is any sort of danger(such as the baby getting too big, not enough fluid etc..)personally, i would wait....your due date isn't always 100 % correct they can be up to two weeks off or so.......good luck with everything ;)

it really depends on your doctor. with my son i made it EXTRA clear that if by my due date i wasn't in labor already that she'd schedule me for induction that day. I was NOT gonna go one day past 40 wks the size of a freakin whale. i was extremely huge & uncomfortable. So come my lovely due date august 13 & i was STILL 0 cm. So into the hospital i went & had my son the next day. If you hit 40 weeks baby is FULLY "COOKED" inside you & obviously can come out. I don't think there's any point to go further than that. So if your doc has no problem with that, then wait til your due date & hopefully baby has already chosen to come out on its own. =]

I think it depends on the situation. If everything is going well and baby isn't in any kind of distress then I think the max they will wait it out is 2 weeks past your due date. I think the majority of them don't push it that far though and normally it's like a week later.

There are several facotrs that a doctor will base their decision around when contemplating an induction. The mother's health (if you develop high blood pressure, etc..) the baby's health (heart rate, size, placental quality, etc..)and if you are dilated/effaced at all. Normally they dont like to induce if you are not showing any signs of readiness becaue the chances of having a cesarean increase. Most doctors agree that a woman should deliver by 42 weeks since the placenta begins to deteriorate at that point, but some will not induce until 41-42 weeks. Others are confident about induction at 38-40 weeks.

i am getting induced at 38 wks if i ahve not had my baby, they usually willnto let u go 2 wks over and they will indicde u for sure, but most dr will induce u anywhere near ur due date if thers pain or false labor , or begining labor that cant seemt o get going on its own, or if ur water is leaking or ur dilating, ect, mine is due to pain and pressure, somany drs are differnt, u r baby is fine to b born after 37 wks!

It depends on the doc and how well the baby is doing. My doc said they would not do it till you are a week over due except under special cercumstances. He did induce my sister the day of her due date because her husband was about to go back to Irac.

Depends on your baby and your health. . I'm pretty average I would say and I'm going 5 days after my due date if she doesn't come before then. .I'm hoping that it comes before. .I heard that getting induced hurts more than regular labor

It all depends on the babies size, sometimes if you are a week over they will induce you if the baby is getting very large to prevent a c-section.
