My baby is 6 weeks old, and he has been very fidgety, this morning, kind of like he had bad gas, because he would suddenly wake up and cry out of discomfort, then he dookied and I checked it and it had a lil moucasy string of blood in it...why did that happen?? Im kinda worried, but he seems fine now..what does that mean?

lady26 - 122 days ago Rating: 5 (4 votes) Take him to the doctor

niki - 123 days ago Rating: 2.3 (3 votes) Many cases of blood in infant stools have no known cause. If the baby is otherwise well and growing, blood in the stool often resolves on its own, but this should always be checked out by baby's doctor.

MelissaJoanne - 127 days ago Rating: 2.3 (9 votes) Check with doctor. It could be a number of things such as constipation, or infection of some sort.

joyfulnoise - 128 days ago Rating: 2 (4 votes) Call the Doctor, just to put your mind at ease.

lmo - 130 days ago Rating: 1.7 (3 votes) i would call the doctor and ask just in case

Brandi J. - 130 days ago Rating: 2.3 (4 votes) Please read this site, it does a really good job of describing different causes for blood in an infant's stool and what you should look for. http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/bloodystool.html

kimmarie - 131 days ago Rating: 1 (2 votes) Call your baby's pediatrician. It will put your mind at ease.

gr8scottswife - 131 days ago Rating: 1 (3 votes) If this happens again, get him checked.

BLESSED-ONE - 131 days ago Thank you all for your advice, my baby is fine and it wasnt no need for concern, I believe it was a little constipation, but he doesnt feel that discomfort and is his happy lil self, thank you and best wishes to all!!

mommy-of-3 - 132 days ago Rating: 1 (1 votes) I know for adults blood can be a sign of hemmoroids but I'm not sure about infants. I would call the doctor to make sure all is well..

kater - 132 days ago Rating: 2.5 (4 votes) i agree, you need to get it checked. it may be nothing to worry about, but with babys, it doesnt pay to take chances

Mommyof2boys - 132 days ago Rating: 2 (3 votes) It might be from a internal hemroid or from him being constipated and scratched something. If he has a lot then I would call the doc.

Baby3OnWay - 132 days ago Rating: 2 (2 votes) Its usually not a good thing to find blood in your stool. it can happen when they get a little constipated or have a hard poop but I WOULD definatly make an appointment to rule out any serious problems. Take care and best of luck... let me know that things are ok!
