So this is two questions all wrapped up in one-answers to any or all are much appreciated. I started spotting two days before AF really got heavy which day do I count as day 1- the day I started spotting or the day AF seemed to really start? This month I felt what seemed like ovulation pain on day 9 has anyone felt or been sure they ovulated this early in the cycle?

An ultrasound should give you a better estimate

I would say to count day one as the day you started spotting. It's common to start very light, and have a heavier flow mid-period. You may well have ovulated on day nine. I'd recommend an ovulation tracking kit. I got pregnant after I figured out when I was really ovulating, not just when I suspected I was. Best of luck!

I believe you are supposed to start counting on the day at actually starts at a normal flow to be called a period. You may just be ovulating early, listen to your body for all the right signs, not the calendar.

So I checked this out on the internet and it says the first day of flow is day one NOT the first day of spotting thanks for all answers!

The day you bleed is the day of your period, a little blood or a lot.

You should try using a basal thermometer - It worked for me after only 3 months of TTC! It's just a regular thermometer, except it measures to 1/100 of a degree. You chart your temp every morning before you get up, and when you notice a spike in temp (1/2 to 1 degree) that means you have ovulated. Then you can predict for the next month on which day of your cycle you will ovulate.

I actualy get ovulation pains and YES I have felt it only a week after. I couldn't really tell you what say to go by, I would say the spotting day, but again I have gotten my period for two months while pregnant before so its hard to say. If and when you find out you are prego I would actually tell the Dr about the spotting /period and get an early unlrasound to tell you the dates exactly! Good Luck and Best wishes

All the books and websites say you only count it from the day you have proper flow, so CD1 is only from once the spotting turns into proper AF. Its very possible you O'ed early, how long is your cycle normally? If its short then it could have been ovulation. Do you have a BBT thermometer to see if your temp is high (post O), or if you could get some OPK asap and see if you are still to O. Good luck :)

I would say the day you started to spot would be considered day 1. I never could actually "feel" when I was ovulating however many women can.

I count the day I start spotting. My periods are messed up when I am not on the pill. So I ovulate different times. Sometimes I feel it sometimes I don't. It is possible.
