after 4 kids i too got my tubes tied, was done day after having my son..i had a vaginal birth, no epidural.i had the choice of getting put under or walking epidural, i chose to go under..doc also said it was easier.it was done through my belly button, cant see anything! surgery was pretty quick and harmless..i woke up, taken back to my room,i got to finally eat an hour later..and as a matter of fact i went home a few hrs later!i felt that good.the recovery is no more or less than just having given birth.i couldnt get my belly button wet for the first few days or week til the stitches disolved.i was told by my doc its easier getting it done after giving birth cause your uterus is right there -easier for the surgery..my periods have still been normal, i took no meds,16 mo later still great to have to use NO protection whatsoever..

I know they go in your belly button but many moms I've talked to said they had no trouble with theirs.

I talked to my mom as I am planning on getting them done. She said YES YOU GO UNDER, RECOVERY WAS EASY.. she could walk slow the first day and got better everyday but the pain was NOT BAD at all (and shes a wimp!! lol) Her periods didn't change... but she got hers done after me, her last child so they were regular after the whole post-pregnancy bleeding. No she didn't have to take hormones!!! I will keep your name in mind though as I am actually going to get info next week from my OB/GYN as I will be getting it done in Sept. after this baby!!

My mom had hers done (which was 27 years ago lol) but she said they tied her tubes right there after I came out and she said it was pretty simple and you are awake for it.
