I get my glucose tolerance test done on the 9th,everyone keeps warning me...is it really that bad?I thought it was just drinking nasty syrup stuff and getting blood taken...

kater - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it is. i dont know what all the fuss is about. i had mine tuesday, and i was speaking to the pathology nurse about it, and the drink only has half the amount of sugar in it as half a glass of coke, so if you are used to having that amount of sugar you will feel fine! mine wasnt orange flavor though, it was like lemonade, and the only time i wasnt allowed to eat was in between taking the drink and having the blood taken-to fasting!

MommaD - 88 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had my test fri and it was so easy. You only have to drink a small little bottle of the orange stuff...tasted like gatorade to me, then they take your blood. Save your fears for labor and delivery!

So if you don't like orange soda, that would make it a bit more nasty. I don't think it will be that bad, but orange soda gives me heartburn, so maybe that will be the worst part for me! lol

Its the waiting thats a nightmare and not being able to eat before you go to docs and after. I had to wait 3 hours in the surgery with no food and it was boring so take a book and your ipod.

katipillaer - 89 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've had orange and fruit punch. I definitely prefer the fp it tastes like an otter pop. Orange tastes more like a flat syruppy sunkist soda. With your blood being draw if you don't mind needles and are there for the hour test then it is a piece of cake, but if it is the 3 hour test be prepared for 4 viles. Good luck.

Mommyof2boys - 89 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Mine was an orange drink, tasted a lot like sunkist soda but with a tangy taste. Drink it fast and don't think about it and you'll do just fine. I didn't think it was that bad I know it could be a lot worse so I never complained. good luck!

Here I just go in and drink an orange pop like drink within 10-15mins, sit there for an hour an they take my blood and thats it. Just don't drink caffine or eat too much before cause I did that the first time and felt so sick!! Its not that bad at all... the three hour on the other hand would suck!

candace3 - 89 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I didn't have to fast for mine. Only during the hour after I drank it,and had my blood drawn. I did feel yucky about 15 minutes after I drank it, just a little nauseaus, and a headache.

mommauv4 - 89 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) That is all there is to it! It is just sweet flavored orange syrup not too unlike orange pop but sweeter. It really isn't that big of a deal... I think some people find the fasting a bit of a problem... after m/s this should be a cinch.
