CPCs: no horror stories please

I hesitate to ask this as someone is going to feel compelled to tell me a horror story. While I appreciate that there are those with bad experiences and I sympathize, ladies, NO HORROR STORIES! I want to know many of you were told your baby had a CPC and no other markers at an early scan and later, everything turned out fine? I’ve done plenty of reading on the subject so I don’t need CPCs explained, I`m just interested to know how common this is among the women here. My baby has one, and we`ll confirm on Thurs that there are no other soft findings, but from the scan the tech did at 18 weeks, everything else looked fine—all my other screenings were normal. I’m curious what your Dr told you about the CPC—mine said she sees these and bright spots on the heart all the time and they turn out to be nothing.

mrscolegrove - 80 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) dont get ur self to worked up everything is probly fine

MelissaJoanne - 84 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm sorry that you couldn't finish the last scan. Do your best to not worry too too much! I know it's easier said than done. I don't see how it would be possible not to, with anything concerning the health of your baby. You have my prayers.

lady26 - 84 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) Fairly common

kater - 86 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) this is fairly common. my doc told us (after seeing on in my baby) that it wasnt anything to worry about, and 9 times out of 10, disappear in a short time, and sure enough at the follow up scan -24 weeks- there was no sign of it! if there is no other markers, and everything looks normal, i am absolutely certain thats because you baby IS normal.

athome - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Oh yes. I went through that with my little boy. They told me after his 19 week US that they saw a "tumor" on his brain and one in his heart but NOT TO WORRY as they were only concerned if they found 3 indicators and they had only spotted two !!! LIKE THAT WASNT GOING TO WORRY ME. Anyway I had to have another ultrasound at 34 weeks because they thought the placenta was low ( it wasn't) and both tumours had disappeared completely. There are so many cells being produced that every now and then one or two go haywire and take a few weeks to sort themselves out. Ds is very healthy, very normal little boy without a problem in the world. Hope this helps relieve some of your stress I wish I'd had known someone who had been through it.

Baby3OnWay - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My daughter had one as well and they had me go to so many different ultrasounds throughout pregnancy and even wanted to do an amnio but I refused as the chances of losing my baby over the chances of there being a problem were much higher... didn't want to take that risk. My daughter is now 28 months old and perfectly fine. It was hard for me to clear my head of all this during the pregnancy but it wasn't until a few weeks after the delivery that I realized HEY... they were wrong!! I had all other tests I had come back fine as well so I would just keep that in mind too!!! The noticed that my son had kinda the same thing on his kidneys when I was pregnant as well and now they say possibly hydronephorosis... (blockage in the ureters) and he has an ultrasound tomorrow (nearly 6 months old now) and that can easily be corrected if it turns out to be there still... no worries!! stay positive Medical advances are so amazing these days its nice that they can see more in utero then before BUT it does cause more worried but remember that they will be checking up on it and even if its still visable near the end (like my daughters) it can still turn out to be nothing! Best Wishes!!

lindaynino - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) hi! Usually I thank medical science and research because it is our rational way to solve problems that 100 years ago were out of our hands, but sometimes I just hate it because it also help us to discover problems that actually aren't there. A friend of mine is pregnant with her second baby (I'm with my first :)) with the first one the doctor made one of those stupid tests and told her the baby had a tumor in his brain and other abnormalities, my nephew is born miracuosly perfect (?), about six months ago, another doctor detected down syndrome in her second baby and calcification in her heart, she's about to deliver and again "miracously" the baby is completely health. Darling, sometimes doctors are as stupid as other human beings and really don´t care what a new mom can be suffering aws long as he gives the worst point of view to clean his/her hands...

joyfulnoise - 88 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have only heard that sometimes it turns out to be nothing to worry about and everything is just fine. I think that we are put through a few tests that can cause us to worry unnecessarily. Stay positive and optimistic! :-)

Melanie07 - 88 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) My now almost 15 month old daughter had it show up on our first class 2 ultrasound. They explained it to us. They said that a lot of them disappear before birth. I can't remember if it was 4 or 6 weeks between the ultra sounds. All I know is, by the next class 2 ultrasound it was gone. That was the longest most stressful few weeks of my pregnancy. They say to not worry about it early on. It is hard not to. Try and relax. It is not set in stone that the baby will keep it. With my baby everything else was fine. By the next ultrasound everything was normal. Hope everything is ok. Keep us posted.

mommy-of-3 - 88 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have heard that a lot of times it turns out to be nothing too. It's so crazy what they can see in an ultrasound and sometimes have us get all worked up over nothing. I remember when I was pregnant with my oldest son, at my first u/s they found fluid and had me all worried that he may need surgery shortly after he was born etc. Then they told me,"Or it could just be nothing". I had to wait until 4 months later to have another u/s and low and behold the fluid was all gone.
