i noticed little white dots on my baby`s gum (where her teeth would grow)...what could it be? and what can i do?

mtnwoman - 214 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Given the age of your daughter I would guess Thrush, but there is a small chance she could be teething as well.

MelissaJoanne - 214 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Little teeth, or thrush

lady26 - 215 days ago Rating: 5 (1 votes) They are tooth buds

niki - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Teeth coming through i guess.

lmo - 216 days ago Rating: 4 (1 votes) most likely it is thrush here is a link with all the symptoms of thrush hope it helps http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/tc/thrush-symptoms

Christina1984 - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i remember seeing that on my daughters gums right before her teeth came in. the spots where a tooth will come in usually start to thin out and soften

UKMama - 216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If they are isolated single spots, corresponding to where each tooth would come though then they are tooth buds, the tips of teeth pushing through already. This isn't usual this early on but it isn't uncommon either. Some babes are born with teeth. If these spots are pencil tip size and random along her gum then its thrush. If she isn't in any discomfort, doesn't appear restless (implying the thrush has got to the itchy stage but even then you can ignore it. It depends on how hands-off you like to be) then leave things be. It normally clears on its own and has been a natural development in her maturing defence system. But of course, "if in doubt, if you can't rest that it's nout, get the doctor out".

athome - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would check for thrush just in case, it is white and would usually be on his tongue and inside his cheeks as well. It can be easily treated with a gel but see you Gp if you think that could be it. Otherwise it could be sucking blisters from the new bottle or his gums preparing for teeth. Its never too early for teeth to start coming through my son was born with 2 teeth that receeded before coming back at 6 weeks!! Yep it looked a bit funny. LOL. Check for thrush if its not that then its nothing to worry about and it will sort itself out.

Mommyof2boys - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) tooth buds, like a plant has buds and then they bloom its the same with baby's gums & teeth, thats where his little teeth will be coming up.

kimmarie - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Sounds like your baby's teeth will be coming up soon. My son got his first tooth at 5 months old.

eastern-Canadian-Lady - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I thought that some white dots on my baby's gums were teeth coming way too early (about 5 months), but after a few days, I decided to rub them with a wet facecloth. They were gone after, which made me think I was dumb, LOL. i think it may have been a build up of breast milk in little dents on the gums. By the way...I had thrush with my daughter. It's a bacterial infection that can be very painful for the mom.

slnkl - 217 days ago i highly doubt its teeth growing. my baby is only 1 month old as of the 27th of this month. i do breastfeed, but lately i've been pumping and she's been eating out of the bottles. is thrush something harmful?

mommy-of-3 - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) This sounds like the tooth buds exposing the start of a tooth but it's hard to say without actually seeing the dots.

Melanie07 - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Try wiping it off. If it doesn't come off, it is probably thrush. If it is thrush, you will have to see the doc. There is a very slim chance that it is teeth. Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth. They will give the baby medicine for it. Diflucan works the best.

jessicadarling - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It could be thrush? Do you breastfeed? Do you have pain in your breasts like a burning or sharp feeling? Thrush is caused be a yeast infection either on the nipples or in the milk ducts. If the baby is not latching on properly anymore it could be that the baby has pain in his/her mouth from the thrush. I know all this because I think I am going through the same things because we have all the symptoms of thrush except the baby doesn't have any white spots in her mouth which don't necessarily have to happen.

joyfulnoise - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Maybe they are just the little teeth buds getting ready. :-)

Baby3OnWay - 217 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Wipe the spots with a damp cloth... I know that it could be pablum, formula, thrush or teeth!!!
