My baby cousin was born with it about 9 years ago. She lives in Jamaica and at the time the hospitals was not able to do the surgery so the first few years of her life she had to wear a bag over her exposed intestine, but she was fine. She could walk, talk and do things other kids her age was doing. At the age of 3 her parents raise enough money for her to go to miami and have the surgery done. The surgery went well and she fine.

I just looked into see what it was.. when did you find out about it and are they 100% sure? I looked it up and found this site with some information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastroschisis
I am actually dealing with my 6 month old having to go for more testing, ultrasounds and stuff because of a defect in his kidney/ureter development in utero.. we go next week to talk about surgery. He also had an umbilical hernis where his intestines were protruding through his belly button but in time it healed itself, still actually dealing with that a little now too. Its a scary thing for such young children to have to go through but i wish you and your familythe best and i hope you find and get the support you need. thought and prayers are with you!
